I usually skip over hard to understand posts. But if you are determined; you could feed it to a LLM and respond to whatever it translates it to.

Technology@beehaw.org•Framework under fire for Omarchy/DHH/Hyprland support?
62·2 months agoInsted of banning abrasive people from forums, we could flag them and use AI as a filter on everything they say in that forum. In a similar vein of how Overwatch dealt with trolls in their ingame chat. If you say “too easy” your message is replaced with something less abrasive. Take away their power to be assholes for no reason. Make it a little badge “I’m an asshole”.
I once replaced a cheap pair of adapters with a more expensive pair. Was night and day for my network stability. I know it’s hit or miss, depending on your wiring and location. But the adapters themselves can differ.

2·4 months agoRaspberrypi with pivpn. Put it right next to the router. Can possibly be powered by the routers usb port as well. Connect with ssh to administer. Easy as pie.
For always staying on the vpn: Get a pfsense router and configure it to always connect to the vpn and route all traffic through it.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Youth as young as 12 see OnlyFans as an appealing alternative to traditional work, study findsEnglish
321·4 months agoMany admitted to accessing this content despite OnlyFans’ age restrictions, describing various workarounds to bypass verification systems.
So this is why the UK is ruining free speech.
companies must strengthen policies to prevent the promotion of sexualized content to minors. This could include better age verification tools, restrictions on algorithm-driven exposure to adult content, and increased transparency about how platforms target young users.
We need to demand transparency on how everyone is targeted. In fact; we need to end the surveillance economy all together. Make social media unprofitable.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Looking to change to a Linux-based OS on a laptop, but I don't really understand coding so I haven't tried any of them. Is LinuxMint a good place to start?
5·4 months agoYou won’t run in to coding.
Having decision paralysis? Best to just pick an option and do it. Expect it to go wrong and be pleasantly surprised when it diesn’t. Don’t try to plan it all out. Doing is the best learning. Unsure about something? Press enter and see what happens. Start over if you have to.
Pick Mint. It’s a good start. load it to a USB, reboot, find the boot menu, boot the USB, let the installer guide you. Have another device handy for internet searches if something confuses you. At this point, If for some reason you wanna try another distro, go ahead! Doesn’t hurt to reinstall and try out.

22·4 months agoI deleted hundreds of old emails the other day. I’m doing my part!
Surely the email providers won’t actually get rid of any data I request to be deleted. They are data hoarders and storage is cheap. I also question how much cooling is required for data at rest. I wanna see their rationale.

The asymetry is unfair.
