Trump surprised New York’s art community on June 5, 1980 when a demolition crew jackhammered the sculptures off of the building. In addition, the intricate grillwork was removed. The destruction drew a public outcry. The Met received no advance notice.
Trump initially avoided any comment about the Bonwit Teller artwork. But John Baron, a spokesperson with the Trump Organization, contacted the New York Daily News to discuss the situation. Baron informed the Daily News that “the merit of the stones was not great enough to justify the effort to save them.” Baron stated that the removal process could have set back Trump Tower’s construction timeline by two weeks. Baron also told the New York Times that he had no idea what happened to the ornate grillwork.
Mostly lurk, so unlikely. Changing domains when lemm.ee closed down doesn’t help, either.
I used to work there, and I’m in the same boat as [email protected]. I’ve got over 10k miles behind the wheel (most from the early days when the software sometimes felt like it was actively trying to kill you) and even with all the stupid shit they still do, I trust it more than 95% of the people on the road. It doesn’t have an ego and drive angry, it doesn’t get distracted by a phone, etc.
Granted, driving near them can be rough, as they’re programmed to follow the laws. And since most people don’t, it can be a bit jarring as it’s not what you expect from other cars.

1·3 months agoAll these replies and you’re the only one to mention the apps. It’s absolutely one of the reasons why (beyond them using “inflation” to cover for straight greed).
By jacking their prices way up, and only offering discounts via their apps, they win either way - You pay ridiculous amounts, or you pay slightly less ridiculous amounts and they get your data.
