I have a bit of a rare find here. Over 100 brand new Dell WYSE 5070 units but they have two gigabit network ports. For the SFP port you get the ethernet and optical transceiver. You also get the 3D printed riser and nylon screw for adding your own m.2 drive. For an extra $10 you get a 128G SATA SSD drive (not new, health status 98%).

pfSense CE and OPNsense install and run great on the internal 16G EMMC storage. Either OS uses 3G or less of storage. I got almost full gigabit speeds when testing on my internal network (see images).

These make fantastic gigabit ethernet routers. Your friends or family could in theory use these to connect to a router running Wireguard, then share streaming services like YouTube TV or Netflix.

My main server runs Proxmox with many containers and virtual machines. Which shuts down during a power outage. I have Ubuntu Server 24.04 running on one of these along with Pi Hole for my secondary DNS. When my primary server shuts down, everyone in the house can still access the internet.

These also make a great Plex server. The on-board Intel UHD Graphics 605 can transcode a few streams.

I think an argument can be made for a Dell WYSE 5070 over a Raspberry Pi 5 at $68. You don’t have to buy a case or power supply for this. No moving parts and the heatsink does not use a fan.

Officially supported by ChromeOS Flex.
