Isn’t dendrite formation and the shorts they can cause a much bigger concern when dealing with old batteries that are being charged 24/7? Asking a genuine question here, so please don’t shoot me if I’m wrong. 🙂 I’d love to hear more about the most common failure modes and causes for li-po/ion batteries.

  • I’ve got regular silverfish in the bathroom, but gray silverfish (or paperfish as they are called here) in the rest of the house. Those things are larger and much more destructive, some found their way in my collection of sheet music… They literally eat their way through paper and even damage untreated wood, nasty critters. And worse, where ventilating your house helps against silverfish, it only seems to create even better living conditions for those buggers. I’d trade for house centipedes happily.

  • The opposite is true for the tiny arms. The arms are not tiny because it’s beneficial for them to be that small. They’re tiny because there’s no reason for them to be big.

It is theorised that it might actually have been an advantage to have smaller arms, so there may have been some selective pressure:

“What if several adult tyrannosaurs converged on a carcass? You have a bunch of massive skulls, with incredibly powerful jaws and teeth, ripping and chomping down flesh and bone right next to you. What if your friend there thinks you’re getting a little too close? They might warn you away by severing your arm”

In case of larger species with a tremendous bite force getting bitten in the arm would probably result in very bad, and likely very short, times.

  • Oof, it’s been a while, and it involved a lot of late-night debugging and searching, so memory is a bit fuzzy.

I believe I ended up buying a RISC OS license and ran the OS in RPCEmu. But tracking down a working RISC OS copy of SF3000 took a lot of digging through internet archives. Honestly I don’t even remember in which virtual gutter I ended up finding it. 😅

Had a lot of issues getting the CD image to load, failing installations and the entire emulated machine hanging itself. Eventually I managed to fix all issues, but the moment I got it working I lost the motivation to play it. Which sums up my ADD (or ADHD-I if you feel fancy) quite nicely. 😞
