No problem! :) If you do opt to try making something yourself I’m sure the folks here at Lemmy would be more than happy to check it out and give you some feedback!
Maybe it’s time you made your own project (if you’re up to it) :) time to serve that quality bisque in a bowl deserving of it lol besides, things will never change if we stay the route with Jack Welch-esque CEOs running the show; we need more indie devs, more small businesses, people who want to make something great because they’re passionate, or even just folks who want a sustainable future without strangling ourselves with the noose of “line must go up” mentality.
But also that’s a metric ton of work, and owning a project like that is certainly a risk to take!
Rightfully worried IMO
Deck is superior to Switch! And obligatory F—- Nintendo, and their 1990’s mindset with games and hardware. I’m convinced they’ll have to financially fail to start caring. Even a 30% reduction in their sales and player counts should quickly seize their attention.
At this point 2024 is looking like the Year Of Nintendo’s Failures starting off with Palworld. They certainly deserve to fail!
The other two are obviously good, but seriously try Captain of Industry! Nothing like watching your mining operations slowly but surely terraform the face of your island lol
I mean, Devilman Crybaby is without a doubt. Not exactly sure if that’s what you’re looking for though.
And don’t forget you can play the whole thing in VR with the VHVR mod! I’ve played 330+ hours over 3 runs with my friends in VR, beating the Queen while panicking into repeated freefalls into pit (thank you feather cloak) was an insane experience (Yag too TBF; out of our 3 person group everybody died at least once, and several times the lone survivor was stuck doing laps with hordes of Fulings and a few berserkers and shamans in the parade until the others sprinted back from their beds.) Blessings to corpse run lmao

Really enjoying Stranded: Alien Dawn! 3D Rimworld in a nutshell lol that or Songs of Syx!
It’s been won in the ballot box already, as recently as 2020. Each fight repeats (here we are looking at the next round in 2024), but the ballot can be won and the overt fascist candidate prevented from succeeding and rolling out Project 2025. Swing states matter most, but as we’ve seen since 2016 unexpected states can still swing their vote. And I’d much rather we handle it civilly through voting rather than go for the Huey Long fix, like happened in 1935.
I’d say preventing the rise of another web of right-wing leaders is just as important as fighting a war after they’ve claimed their power. We see ourselves in quite a similar position to the post-Great War, with many governments swinging hard right, media turning to support that, and the base for those future right wing leaders in the Americas and Europe being solidified. I’d say if anything, the way you’ve brushed this off is quite flippant.
But best of luck if the need flee arises! Hopefully if it’s Europe, it’s nowhere the Balkans. You wouldn’t to hop from a frying pan into the fire of a Russian invasion without NATO at full power with US backing (and odds are if Trump wins he pulls out of NATO).
If Trump had served 8 years we’d be in a much worse place as a nation. That’s a hot take if ever I’ve seen one.
Flee where? Canada is no safer, they have QAnon nuts too. Europe’s not looking amazing. Are you thinking Asia? That’s a bad pick if/when the battle for Taiwan kicks off. Africa is not very developed. And Oceania (Australia included) is just too close to the South China Sea to be safe. Unfortunately, we can’t just flee. We have to make a stand, or we’re all lost to this growing global tide of authoritarianism and outright fascism, the way we had to make a global stand in the 1940’s. Thankfully a world war hasn’t broken out, and we still have the hope of influencing our political systems at home before it’s too late.
On this note The Battle of Polytopia is an extremely fast-paced turn-based strategy game, like a Civ-lite you can finish entirely in 30 turns or less instead of 200-500 :)
Edit: Recommending Worldbox too lol it’s a fun god-game you can leave and come back to whenever, just save your world’s progress in the meantime.
Not quite what you’re looking for, but I think you might enjoy Worldbox for a nice and relaxed, long-term game! It’s a fun god game with the twist that the inhabitants of your worlds are alive and doing their own thing, be that farming, building cities and kingdoms, forming empires, or making alliances and waging wars all without your input (although you can meddle in the affairs of the world as much as you wish). It’s free (with a single $7 premium purchase if you love the game and want to support the dev).
