In XMPP, e2e encryption (just like everything else) is an optional extension. So in practice half the clients don’t support e2ee, half support different version of e2ee (can’t talk to each other) and pretty much all e2ee are likely full of holes since there are too many implementations to review.

In Matrix, e2ee is in a library that all clients can use, so while it is not Signal, it provides decent security.

I would be very unhappy if I saw this spacecraft, that still has probably more than 95% chance of bringing me home safely if something happened, leave with no alternative in sight.

I strongly prefer GOG to the point where I often don’t buy games that are not on GOG.

That being said, one reason to buy from Steam is steam workshop. So if I want a lot of mods, I may buy from Steam even when available on GOG.

GrapheneOS now supports android auto. Then one thing missing for me is google pay (paying with the phone through nfc) as google does not allow it “because of security”.

So you are clearly talking about trademark. A game design can’t be trademarked. Only the name. Yes, if the name could be confused, that could be an issue. Maybe the cover art to some extent, if it is trademarked.

But if the game origin can be confused, so what? No law against that.

I don’t think thats how it works for copyright. You have to defend your trademarks to keep them but for copyright, you can decide who can use it rather arbitralily.

Especially allowing a release of an old game on platform you don’t support which would not really compete with you.

I mean, carbon capture works but if people are not willing to pay 5$ extra to prevent the CO2 from being emitted then they sure as hell are not going to pay 50$ to capture it. And capturing will almost always be more expensive than not producing it.

Honestly, I still have more hope for Signal compared to Lemmy/fediverse. As much as I like it here, Signal is just so much more user-friendly and explainable. I am also slowly making people around me set it up.
