Here I thought it was normal to feel lonely. When that whole FOMO term use being thrown around a few years ago actually made me both aware how often I was feeling it more than others perhaps, but also that I wasn’t alone in feeling it all the time. Always kind of figured the fomo part was tied more to self centeredness or lack of self worth acknowlment or such on my end though. 34 years down, likely only 34 to go, I’ll figure myself out eventually, haha

Edit: Not married though, a couple occurrences of staying in relationships to long when I should have left though, fear of being more lonely.

Population of a state does dictate the number of electorial votes, which is why California has 54. Florida surpassed population of NY a few years back and now you will see Florida has 30, while NY has 28. On the other hand population is disproportionately represented when it comes to the Senate, because each state has 2 senators, regardless of population.

“Swing states” are just important in the fact that if you already know 60% of a state will vote red/blue you don’t need to campaign there as much, because convincing 10% of the population to change their mind is harder than convincing 3%.

That said, Texas is seen as “Red” and people claim Florida is “Red” these days as well. A 3% flop in 2020 would have made both states blue.

Note that every state that gained electorial votes since last election I believe is expected to vote red though, as they are usually tied to lower taxes and cost of living, which many people I believe moved to when remote work became more prominent (others will argue because people moved for other reasons but that’s neither here nor there when it comes to the number of electors part)

So a 20 something year old kid has a choice to help people vs not help people. Chooses to help people and you automatically label it as not helping in any meaningful way. What a bleak view.

That’s not the philanthropy part, the games he does are usually with his friends yeah, also in a smaller town in the Carolinas so you probably already know most everyone. The philanthropy stuff is building wells, bridges, houses, planting trees, and what not in other countries, I really don’t see those being his friends as he doesn’t know their languages.

Believe he went back and helped those people and learned from his mistakes. He now has videos about building wells and bringing lights/water to remote places in Africa/South America, building bridges where it was dangerous to cross rivers, building houses for people that need them that were crushed by floods (although I don’t know how well they are built). Some videos about helping getting dogs adopted and other random shit. There are things to criticize him about sure, and I’m sure a lot of it is for tax purposes, but at some point you have to blame our government setup and not a 20 something year old “taking advantage” of the system we vote representatives in over and over to not change.

Edit Oh and apparently spent a fuck load of money buying a chocolate factory and advertises the shit out of that, which is why you see posters of him at Zaxby’s or what not

I understand, there is a lot of animosity on Lemmy (not trying to compare to other platforms just recognizing it exists.). I think .world will keep getting hate but it likely will also keep growing due to other places having strong opinions that do not align with .worlds view. This one was me removing it because I posted something about modern games not working on emulators but it is in the retro games thread so I realized it was kind of a foolish place to state that “all” games don’t include most of the games people play these days.

Edit: was something like "The wording always annoys me because emulating any game from consoles excludes the PS5, Xbox X, and most AAA games created in the last 15 years unless you pay more than $30 to figure out a graphics card etc etc etc. {dumb thing to say in retro games

Yeah, if he loses a second time in a row here, I can’t see how someone could think the 3rd time is going to work.
