Sorry, but Acclaim really was that wild for a bit there. They also had a promotion where you’d get a free copy of one of the Turok games if you named a newborn child after him. For what it’s worth, I don’t think anyone took them up on either offer, but it certainly brought in the publicity.
Spongmonkeys. It was posted on Rathergood.com way back. Knowyourmeme entry if you want to see more about it.
The Quiznos ad was a reference to a popular Flash video from back then. It made sense if you were online a lot, but I can only imagine how off-putting it was without proper context.
Didn’t the books reveal it was “what is 6x9”, and the calculation getting thrown off when humans arrived on Earth?
Ninja Bachelor Party. A goofy and mostly nonsensical home movie made by a few teenagers, including legendary comedian Bill Hicks way before he was famous.
All 3 games got official English translations. Soul Blazer and Gaia were released in the US and Europe, but Terranigma for whatever reason was only released in Europe. I’m so glad emulation came around and opened up access to so many region-locked games.
Like the Chevy Volt? (No, not my video. I don’t condone the filming while driving but it’s the best demo I could find.)
They repurposed some deleted scenes for that montage. You can see them on the DVD.
Wrap a much larger time loop around the first movie.
I was lucky enough to have the manual for ET lying around. It helps greatly in explaining the game’s bizarre logic (and how to escape the infamous pits). It’s not much weirder than most 2600 games once you read it, provided somebody didn’t throw it out thinking it was useless.
I believe it’s been fixed for the next version of Lemmy. But for now, small ampersand (U+FE60) works as a substitute: ﹠
I’m so happy someone other than me remembers Radar Mission. I too still get the music stuck in my head from time to time.
Spacewave? It tends to be more slow paced and synth-heavy, and really evokes the feeling of giant planets and stars. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RlxClUifEw&t=1800 (at the 30 minute mark, though the very first song works too)
I still haven’t paid to remove ads, and no Adguard, yet I’ve never had a single ad show up. I wonder if there’s a bug.
Oh neat. I’m glad it got updated to remove the Flash element. Breaking that site was the real tragedy of Flash’s shutdown.
html5zombo.com is better for modern browsers, now that Flash is dead.
I imagine it’d sound like this.
