It’ll probably be done with an overlay/prompt for the user to click on (Unless the advertiser is paying for exposure and not direct traffic idk). But such a popup would provide a hook for a patched version of yt-dl to detect the ad and trim it out of the final video.
Also, shouldn’t a forum signature at all should be enough to screw with AI scrapers? No need to link to anything specific
Semantic/licensing quibbles aside, these futo guys seem pretty based (affectionate). They even use the word “normies” in their goals/value statement.
Seriously tho, with power/wealth as lopsided as it is in america, we really need capitalist class traitors to get anything done and I’m glad people like this exist
That just sounds like a saturnalia
I’m biased but I thought it was pretty clear with portraying Truman as an unambiguously bad guy and Oppenheimer as decent but failing at a critical moment and then regretting it later
Ok you probably won’t hear this from an AI bot trained to repeat the ideology of the ruling class that this book tries to justify (and for which it gets praised in mainstream media, which I imagine make up most the training data).
But in reality lots of professional historians have argued this is a very bad book from a historical/scientific perspective. The research is not actually best described as “meticulous”.
And from a moral perspective, pinker does not see deaths from engineered starvation/malnutrition and displacement (for a more modern equivalent see also the so called “deaths of despair”) as “violent” because they don’t fall into the war/criminality criteria he sets for himself.
For a compilation of critiques from historans see for example the book “the darker angels of our nature” (link to a review) https://www.counterfire.org/article/the-darker-angels-of-our-nature-refuting-the-pinker-theory-of-history-and-violence-book-review/
They weren’t already surrendering, ok. I’m not an expert but imo it could be argued that the Soviet Union joining the war (as they were about to) might have given Japanese command an excuse to surrender while saving face, or triggered an internal coup or something. They weren’t stupid, surely they could see the writing on the wall.

the lemmy devs added per user instance blocks a while ago. Check your settings page
well good news, the readme implies they are planning on it
dam that’s awesome, is your code open source? I want this for .ee
knowing how government institutions work I’d also assume they can’t get the libraries to switch to a new program
This book review (never got around to reading the book itself) made me understand why people think “it’s tradition” is a valid explanation at least sometimes. I disagree still but i couldn’t find any counterarguments.

It’s not centralization if not everyone trusts the same server, which there is no obligation to
iirc Friedman changed his mind about the welfare state later in life
The boomers ARE the unshaven hippies tho. People born in the 40s and entering public life in the 60s-70s
That’s just the wages of living in a huge postmodernist society that produces a vast amount of media. We no longer have centralized institutions (or rather they’re losing relative importance) so you have to go looking through the depths of either recommendation algorithms or topical forums
What is pt?
Also, amazing story and glad that you’re doing better
