It would be impossible to build today by any means. Not because of any technological problem. Physically it could be done rather quickly, as others have posited. The problem is that you could never combine the political and economic will to complete it.

It’s the same reason it would be easier to colonize Mars than to fix climate change. There’s a half dozen robots on Mars that will do whatever you tell them. On Earth, there’s 7 billion assholes who think they have a better idea of what to do.

So the government has gotten every university and financial institution on the planet to go along with their ruse? I mean after faking a moon landing that sounds trivial.

I doubt they’ll use screen shots to implement anything like piracy controls. It’s too messy and inaccurate, and there are easy and accurate ways to check for file signatures. Every virus scanner already does it.

If they’re going to institute license controls that’s how it would work. Any signature of unlicensed software would get locked out by file heuristics.

I heard Hawaii, but that could be completely wrong.

Already moved on to a boat, I’ll either be staging to leave, or already out of the country, when the election is decided. Depending on the results I’ll be back in the spring, or not.

Just because you can buy a degree, doesn’t mean you have a damn clue how to perform the work. Degree’s and certs are a good indicator of a qualified candidate, but by no means can they be trusted. Even being a vet doesn’t mean a lot by itself. Although I do have to say, all of the vets I’ve known with degrees, have been highly effective employees.

The next most conservative generation is Gen X. All few dozen of us. Expect those with power to retain it with massive use of wealth to constrain the rules of democracy, rather than numbers of voters.

Guess why it’s not a law already.

It’s easier to get a recording of a hawk that never shuts up. Eagles let out a screech too, but not often. Try stealing a fish from a bald eagle. Bring a tape recorder…and some bandages.

Mandatory voting would include prisoners.

There is no cheap way out, it takes lawyers and years.

Monitoring is only a tiny fraction of the problem. I’ve had ongoing identity theft problems for decades now. Which means I have to hire lawyers, and call the FBI, and deal with multiple fraud departments. All to prove I didn’t have a damn thing to do with random companies reporting debts that I’ve never had, on accounts I never opened.

I don’t care what the score means, I just don’t want to have to hire a lawyer, and a watchdog, and a monitoring agency, to keep someone from stealing my identity on a network I have no control over.

Financial stress. Go take a closer look at the crime stats that right wing racists like to hammer the black community with. Then adjust them for poverty rates in the community. All of a sudden the racial divide in violent crime goes away. If anything, poor white men are the most violent, but not by enough to really be significant. The driving factor, by around 10 or 15 to 1, is poverty.

We’re seeing declining standards of living across the country, while technology hides the true depths of it. The whole, you can’t be poor if you have a wide screen TV and a refrigerator, is almost true. It’s just enough to make it look like having no bargaining power, being locked into your zip code, buried in debt, and renting everything you own, somehow represents wealth.

Now I lay me down to sleep, the chaos take my soul to keep. If I should die, before I wake, the Lords of Chaos my vengeance to take.

I used to know a guy with some syndrome that made his body stop growing around 6 years old, but not his head. He was in his 20’s, in a wheel chair playing pool. Pulled the stick back, and broke his collar bone. He kinda winced a bit and said ‘pain don’t hurt’ them finished playing with the other hand.

His condition also gave him brittle bones. Seeing him shrug that shit off, knowing it was just one of many, I got nothing to complain about. My sorry, but healthy ass, can just shut the fuck up and carry on. Everyone has hard times, and they hurt like hell. Sometimes stepping out of your own can give us perspective.

My coping strategy is stubbornness, I may not win, but I’ll be fucked if I’ll let the rest of the world beat me. I refuse to give up.

Schools are far too based on attendance, and often legally can only count kids with a butt in their seat at school. Even into college, progress is based more on appearance than ability.

It leads to crappy teaching, and draconian absence policies.

To be fair, forcing kids into school drastically cuts down on child abuse. So there is a logic behind it, just taken a bit too far.

China has probably gotten more from their various intel ops in the US supply chain. There isn’t a lot they could get in the field without risking serious repercussions.
