Jesus Christ. Just kidding, it’s David Rakoff. I find his essays comforting.
Hell yeah. I think it was Spyro – anyway, some psx game – that had to literally go through the source code and declare integers like i
outside of loops, so they could be reused. All so the game would fit on disc.
Tbh I really hated the krudling posts on reddit, but here not so much. Maybe because I don’t feel like the platform is gaming my engagement, so I don’t have to feel guilty
Tell us about Cheems :)
Not happy about this, but present
What a quintessentially human attitude
Most of the time we don’t think about it, because anything medical often comes with its own stress, so just thinking about that is front of mind.
It’s only after the dust settles and we’re all back home and safe that we might say something like “whew glad that’s over! Can you imagine if we had to worry about money on top of that?”
Truly once you’re used to single payer, the American alternative seems like lunacy. I cannot imagine the stress of combining some if life’s biggest medical decisions with financial considerations
I’d go on but my socials timer is about to go
Damn that sounds like a fun read.
Maybe your awareness splits with each copy, so you go from an “I” to a “we.” No such thing as a “master” copy then, just different organs of the same meta entity
Would you be able to live with yourself?
Thank you for your service
Me too, smeg
Heroically and instantly
I don’t skip any of them. They’re so short nowadays, anyway. If I’m impatient enough to skip the opening, then I’m probably not that into it and shouldn’t be watching the show anyway.
Anyway, Law & Order, lol
I’m sure there’s a lot of variance, but at least anecdotally I’ve observed the exact opposite: these millennials (basically 90% of my friend group) are obsessed with not only the provenance of our produce, but geeking out over the tiniest detail of it’s preparation and presentation.
It probably does have something to do with social media. I’m not even saying this is necessarily all a bad thing, but it is a definite thing. Like neither my parents friends nor my friends parents were remotely this extra about food when I was growing up.
Wow I’ve heard about no spice households, but never thought it would include salt and pepper! You must have loved going to friends’ horses houses (lol funny typo) for dinner lol
Wow I guess the stereotypes have to come from somewhere. Would you say they consider food important? I feel like many of my generation are becoming obsessed with sourcing and preparing food, whereas I think when I was growing up we focused more on the company? Idle thought anyway
That could be a matter of taste, too. For instance, I love a dry bird, so if I cook a chicken or turkey to my taste most people will complain about it, but I love it.
Fuck yeah, that’s a good one. Just keep zooming out until it’s all allllright
