It’s more about the training data, I suppose. Those thorns getting into that might potentially mess something up? Idk, it’s just what I they said.

Either them or someone else also doing it (not sure if there’s more than one) explained they’re doing it to poison the data for AI

Gaming@beehaw.org•Nintendo survey seeks feedback on controversial game-key cards, physical and digital purchases | VGC
1·4 months agoOld PlayStation and Nintendo consoles specifically taught me to not care about physical games though, because it is incredibly easy to softmod them and still play anything you like, even after you can’t buy the games anymore…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What things that are legal today could become illegal in 50 years?
1·4 months agoThe cops will still take you with them to the station when you don’t have an ID to show if they ask for it. You are by law required to identify yourself with a physical ID.
So yes, while it’s not illegal to not carry your ID on you, it’s still to your own detriment if you cannot produce it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What things that are legal today could become illegal in 50 years?
2·4 months agoIn Germany it‘s similar. You are required to have an ID with you. It’s not strictly illegal though to not have it on you but if you happen to have business with police (be it an accident, random traffic stop or you having part in illegal activities), when you don’t have it on you, they can make you come to the police station with them to confirm your identity, even if they wouldn’t otherwise.

Technology@beehaw.org•Everyone says that Ryzen 7 2700x supports up to 64GB of ram but thats actualy not true, it supports more!
6·5 months agoIt could. It might not. But it’s intel so the probability they’ve actually locked it down is higher than with AMD. But hardware is often more capable than what the specs say. That’s why overclocking is a thing or, in the past, you could unlock an extra core on some processors. It’s just never a guarantee and can vary from part to part, even if it’s the same model.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Windows 11 has finally overtaken Windows 10 as the most used desktop OS
2·5 months agoHDR actually works fairly well on Linux these days. Been using nobara for the better part of a year now and almost every game I’ve tried, that has HDR support, just worked out of the box.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favourite meat that isn't chicken, beef, pork, or lamb?
5·6 months agoIt’s not as bad here in Germany but knowing hunters does pay off.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favourite meat that isn't chicken, beef, pork, or lamb?
8·6 months agoProbably venison and/or wild boar (if you don’t count the latter as pork). My partner’s parents are hunters and they’ve given us some excellent boar steaks and self made game sausages before.

Apple@lemmy.world•Apple introduces a delightful and elegant new software design
42·6 months agoProbably because it’s what a lot of us grew up with. My childhood was dominated by XP and by the time I was a semi-regular PC user, 7 was the state of the art. I remember trying to make the XP installation on my old laptop look more like Vista.
I never liked the classic windows look. It’s so dull and grey.

75·6 months agoWhat the fuck are you talking about? Vista and especially 7 were the best looking windows versions, unlike the flat and dull metro design of 8-10.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does anyone use a phone without a protective case?
4·7 months agoI don’t use a case. I like my phone to be small (have an iPhone 13 mini) and a case would somewhat negate that advantage. I also haven’t really seen a case that I like the look of.
I do have a vinyl sticker on the back but it’s more for looks than for protection.
Modern phones are surprisingly durable. I mean, of course, over the time I have my phone it collected a few small nicks on the frame and a few minor scratches on the display but it’s a device I use daily after all.
I’ve only ever had two phones break on me and one of them (my iphone 4S) was accidentally flung across the room by the neighbour‘s boy and even it only needed a new back glass, which I fixed myself.

I‘ve only ever read the German versions but to my knowledge, they have been originally written in french and it’s up to the translators to also translate the humour. As is generally with any media (books, movies, games, etc.).
That can work very well and sometimes translations can even add additional humour that the originals didn’t have.
