Interesting. I find flooding Lemmy with 0-comment posts rather a disservice to it instead. I come here for the discussion, not for random links to articles.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Do not do this!English
6·1 month agoWas scary to install that extension but now I can confirm it works as intended
After “This isn’t my main account” I was expecting piping hot takes from the noblest edge-lord and was only slightly let down.
I have excellent long-term memory but have always struggled with keeping strings of numbers in my short-term memory. You can imagine the struggle when trying to solve a function is like trying to make a bed with a slightly too small fitted sheet

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is anyone NOT steaming their Music?English
4·3 months agoI used spotify for a few months about 10 years ago until they doubled their price and removed songs that I had saved in playlists. Since then I haven’t bothered with streaming.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that only by being yourself will you find people who like the real you. No one can beat you at being you, but you’ll only ever be second best at pretending to be someone else.English

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do people in cities have fun without spending money at every turn?English
3·3 months agoIf you’re a musician, look for open mics / open jams and try to make friends in the scene. Musician-organized diy events are cheap and fun. Especially punk events are cheap.
If you’re interested in art, look for local diy group exhibitions and performances and ask if you can volunteer for support.
If you’re into hacking/diy look for local repair cafes and ask to volunteer.
If you’re into rpg go hang out in local game shops and find a group to play with.
It really depends on what you consider fun!
Try piefed. The frontpage experience is wildly different.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)English
34·4 months agoI believe in balancing quotas and rebuilding social structures to be more inclusive. That’s something that takes several generations to bear fruit.
Shaming or bullying anyone for what kind of body or privilege they were born into is where I draw the line.
edit: those who downvoted this are most welcome to reply this comment and explain their point. I’m open to discuss

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•is Lemmy the most popular 'Reddit Alternative'?English
3·4 months agoSubjectively speaking, after switching to Piefed I feel like “the internet is back”.
Engaging conversation, good tools for filtering the front page to your liking, and the audience seems generally speaking more mature. I do expect that to change if the platform grows in size.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how can we make Lemmy as popular as RedditEnglish
3·5 months agoI understand what you mean, and agree that not everything needs to be put in words. At the same time though, it’s really healthy to expose yourself to others even if you just write “I like the way you formulated this.” or “Makes sense, I hadn’t thought of it like this before”. That way it turns into a real discussion - a bit like in the real 3d world.
Up/ downvoting is basically anonymous and adds nothing to the discussion.
And, sometimes, other users misunderstand our comments, and then we need to respond to them to get our point through. All of this is a healthy way to challenge our thinking.
Amazing! I did not expect that outcome from my comment
That function doesn’t seem to function properly btw. I have tried with “meme” and “politics” and communities with those words in them still keep popping into my feed on PieFed.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how can we make Lemmy as popular as RedditEnglish
14·5 months agoUp/Downvoting is so 2015. Instead, comment on any interesting posts, and especially the ones with zero comments. This platform is meant to be about discussion, and not just mindlessly sharing links or memes.
I, personally, am more inclined to check out a post if it has at least one (non-bot, non OP) comment.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is kindness often viewed as a sign of naïveté?English
2·5 months agoThat’s a good quote.
Also props for recognizing your own people-pleasing tendencies. And I’m glad to hear you’ve worked on it. It takes time to understand what causes us to be like that. It might be out of fear of rejection or some other unwanted outcome. And it could be based on some irrational assumptions or beliefs.
To be able to accept any outcome in any situation is very difficult, but a strong foundation for confidence and inner peace.

This looks really good! I’ve been desparate to find a good subsonic client, since the ones I use aren’t updated anymore
