Satisfactory, I’m hoping to get employee of the planet cup before 1.0 comes out.
Angband. I don’t stick with it long, but I always come back, even though I’ve never killed Morgoth or the Balrog in Moria before that. Still, I enjoy it for a while and then move on again.
If they don’t like their “tax evasions”, then they should change the laws and remove the loopholes that allow it. I’m not a supporter of a wealth tax (i.e. being taxed on something repeatedly because you still happen to own it) no matter who it is that would suffer from it that we all collectively dislike.
I just want to know why they did it.
I’ve mostly been playing Hogwarts Legacy, a not very well known game called Reshaping Mars that I really enjoy, and I am aching to go back to Satisfactory but haven’t had the time.
I game on Linux using Steam. If those three other people who do this and are trying to play Hogwarts Legacy: go back to proton 7, something broke with HL’s latest update and proton 8.
When people get in a rage about “the rich”, those kinds of distinctions generally go out the window.
For the jetpack doubters (I was one too), someone posted this link on slashdot. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see a picture of a girl who snapped a picture on her phone of what is very clearly a guy in a jetpack of some kind. The theory is the miners use them to scout new locations to see if enough minerals are present to clear a road to them.
I figure people need to pick up on new slang or risk becoming the old man or woman that yells at kids to get off their lawn one day.

I could totally see having something like this take hold of me, but it just hasn’t as far as video games are concerned.
I tend to treat books differently, for what it’s worth. I don’t review them or list them, but a book sitting around that I haven’t read is more of a mental loose end for me than a video game is. Not sure why. I also feel obligated to give a book a really good try before finally bouncing off it forever. Like, this is the 4th time I’ve read this book and have never gotten beyond page 700 before. Calling this one done.
This might sound negative, but I don’t mean it that way. I just think differently about this. I’m glad for those who do enjoy keeping logs and writing about and reviewing games, but it’s not something I really want to do.
I guess I’ve never felt the need to keep a log of what I play. I’m either enjoying myself, or I bounce off of it to something else. I’ve also never really been stressed about a backlog. To me my backlog of games isn’t a list I need to complete, it’s a list of choices I currently have if I’m looking for something to do. I don’t even really have a backlog, just a list of games on steam and/or my hard drive. Along that same vein, I don’t feel pressured to finish games. If I’m really into one and I’ve made a lot of progress, I’ll push it through. If I’m not feeling it, I don’t. Games to me shouldn’t be a chore. I do give them a good try, though, because it sometimes takes a while for a game to hit it’s stride.
To me, because I’m not feeling those urges, keeping a list would be more of a chore for me than anything else.
An unpopular opinion I know, but most of the Boomers you’ll ever run across are just average joes who worked shit jobs trying to get by on small amounts of money in a world ruled by the mega rich, just like most of us are. If you have to bring judgement down like some kind of vengeful god, maybe worry a bit more about collateral damage.
Doing another run in Satisfactory. I’m building a mega base building vertically and horizontally. I’m around 30 hours in in this run, made coal after about 6 hours and I’m still working on oil, but getting there. I’ve gotten to the last tier before, stayed a while, but never pushed long enough to obtain the employee of the planet cup or to buy everything in the awesome shop.
Google Search brought in lots of revenue (comparatively), but in return they became dependent on the whims of a crazy-large tech company that has turned the corner into a full-on IBM-style corporation. I’ve seen this kind of thing happen with people advertising local businesses on Facebook and then the algorithm killing their income overnight. You have to treat it as a large risk to your business and do everything you can think of to mitigate it. Which maybe they were, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t want my business to be reliant on the good nature of a huge tech company like Google.
