I might accept the premise that inflation is higher than officially reported, but I don’t accept the relevance of your evidence in support of that premise.

Whoosh
I hear those things are awfully loud
Roger, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Roger, if I were using that microscope right now… I still wouldn’t be able to locate my interest in [Intuit’s] problem.
It doesn’t have to be the main GPU. I’m not even sure it would be possible to pass through integrated graphics. But if all you need is HDMI output, you can use the absolute cheapest GPU you can find (assuming there’s an open PCIe slot). PCIe pass-through does require CPU support (Intel VT-d or AMD-Vi) on the host and may need to be enabled in the BIOS/UEFI. I have an NVIDIA Telsa card passed through to a VM on my Proxmox server, but I’m only using it for compute; my card doesn’t even have a video output.
I hired a professional to do my 2022 taxes. I had finally gotten access to an IRA that I inherited from my mother. She passed in 2014. Reading through the rules on inheriting IRAs, I knew I had missed RMD withdrawals, but I couldn’t find satisfactory answers on how much I needed to pay. The pros were able to calculate that for me and told me the amount to withdraw. They also drafted a letter to the IRS explaining the situation and asking that I be excused the penalty for missed RMDs. I got a letter back from the IRS in February accepting the explanation.
A niche that small would be hard to distinguish from quantum fluctuations.
What, like slave-rowed galleys?
SMB is a network protocol developed by Microsoft. It’s the protocol used by Windows computers to share files with each other. But the protocol was reverse-engineered and a program called Samba provides SMB functionality on Linux. You only see print$ because your Samba isn’t configured with any file shares. You’ll have to configure it. You can find guides online about how to configure Samba. Samba also maintains its own user list independent of the system. That’s why your local account password didn’t work.
Of course, the whole point of a Doomsday Machine is lost, if you keep it a secret! Why didn’t you tell the world, EH?
It depends on the area. My aunt and uncle in Dallas live in a house from the 70s. Three bedrooms, three baths, maybe 2200 sq.ft. They paid, I believe, $800K for it in (roughly) 2015. Many houses in the same neighborhood are of similar vintage, but the asking prices have only gone up. Values are inflated partially because a lot of buyers have the money to tear down the existing structure and build a McMansion in its place. There are dozens of them in the neighborhood.
The kicker is that that engineering has already been done because small trucks exist in other countries. Several Japanese automakers sell kei trucks in their domestic market. They could sell them in the US with minimal modification.
I kind of like how the Yen is denominated: all prices are integers. It would be roughly equivalent to pricing everything in cents, but at least there’d be no decimals.
Just one more lane! This time it’ll work! Come on man, just two more lanes!
The primary concern is switchover time. A purpose-built UPS can switch in about 10 microseconds. Those large “solar generator” battery packs switch in about 30 microseconds. That might be fast enough, but it’s not guaranteed to be fast enough like a UPS is.
UPS batteries are only rated for a few years’ use, so you probably are due for replacement.
KCTS will always be channel 9, but which radio frequency “channel 9” corresponds to can change. In the analog days, you could reasonably surmise that channel 4 was a lower frequency than channel 9, but that’s not necessarily the case with digital broadcasting. It’s the metadata contained within the digital signal that determines what channel number you see on the TV, not the actual radio frequency.
Have you done a channel re-scan recently? Broadcasters sometimes change frequencies.
I’ve heard people express the opinion that society is likely to collapse in the next several decades. If that’s a genuinely held belief and not just an edgy thing to say, then saving money for a future in which that money will be worthless makes no sense.
Have you shopped eBay for used switches?
