I’m mid 40’s and I literally just finished making jello with my elementary school aged daughter. We’re still waiting for it to solidify. Last time we did it a few weeks ago we used cold water and it solidified pretty quickly.

I’ve had N40L and N54L, still running one, and I would absolutely not suggest buying one. They’re too old and underpowered, and they’re honestly quite inconvenient to service. If you get one for free, then sure, but if you’re going to spend money, you can get something cheap, more powerful, and easier to work on, like a used optiplex.
I was just thinking yesterday that I should replace my one remaining N40L instead of waiting for it to die.
When I see it, the first thing I think of is Anonymous, not Guy Fawkes or V for Vendetta.
Half caf is great if you can deal with it. The older you get the harder time your body has processing caffeine. I’ve gotten to a place where I can’t drink almost any caffeine except early morning (due to the longer half-life in my body) or I can’t sleep, which sucks because I love the flavor of coffee, especially French roast, which is highly caffeinated.
What are the good decafs? The only one I know of is Blue Bottle Decaf Noir, and blue bottle is owned by Nestle so fuck blue bottle. Plus I can’t find it where I live now.
Absolutely. With code (and I suppose it’s of other logical truths) it’s easier because you can ask it to write a test for the code, though the test may be invalid so you have to check that. With arbitrary facts, I usually ask “is that true?” To have it check itself. Sometimes it just gets into a loop of lies, but other times it actually does tell the truth.
asking them factual questions is a bad idea
This is a crucial point that everybody should make sure their non-techie friends understand. AI is not good at facts. AI is primarily a bullshitter. They are really only useful where facts don’t matter, like planning events, finding ways to spend time, creating art, etc…
It varies. Sometimes several times a day, sometimes none for a week or two. I’d say about half of those conversations are about software design.
Some things cannot be replaced. Spez destroyed something wonderful. There’s no going back.
You can cut one leg off an IC on the board and it becomes a regular barcode reader.
It’s so bad.
Hugging, definitely.
Snuggling, maybe? Like maybe we both fell asleep in the back of a van and ended up snuggling a bit and when we woke up we’re not weirded out by it.
Wrestling, maybe, but it would probably be with kids or pets around. I can’t remember doing it but I wouldn’t be weirded out by it.
It wasn’t always this way though. I was raised southern Baptist. Becoming OK with male physical interactions and homosexuality was a journey, and I am much happier with how accepting I am now than when I said I was as a Christian who had this low-key hypocritical “I know the truth of god and accept everybody” while also looking down on sinners.
I have a gay friend who came to visit me and we went around the city and to a house party and had a great time and then fell asleep in the beach. The next day he said “that was one of the best dates I’ve ever been on” and it caught me off guard because I was just “hanging out”, but if it had been a girl, it would have been a great date, and I thought “ok, sure, it was a ‘date’ with a guy friend and that’s ok.” It was a big step for me.
When I was younger, hunting with an ar15 was illegal. Apparently that has changed? Or maybe it was always legal in Michigan. https://thegunzone.com/are-ar15s-legal-for-deer-hunting-in-michigan/
Oh yeah, exactly. USG and aps and stuff do not. The dream router does, so I would caution against it.
Also, they may force it in the future. Their past behavior does indicate that direction.
Ubiquiti website says that dream router must run unifi.
https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-dream-router/products/udr
*Consists of UniFi Network plus two of Protect, Access, Talk, or Connect.
What router do you have? If it’s a dream router, how did you join it to your unifi running in docker on another host?
I have been using ubiquiti for years, and I would strongly caution against using them. They are forcing some devices to sign on to ubiquity cloud and synchronize with their cloud services, and are forcing those sign ins to use MFA. I really miss the ubiquity from 2020, where it was all local. Next time I upgrade my gear, I will probably not buy an ubiquiti router/gateway.
Also the upgrade process from Usg to dream router was awful. Also they don’t let you run unifi in docker with a dream router, you are forced to run it on-device.
An honest estimate, in the 25+ years I’ve been using the internet, I’ve probably clicked on things easily recognizable as ads on purpose less than 50 times. A lot of that was while shopping.
Oh. My. God. Can fucking apps learn that when I say “block” and “less like this” I fucking mean it? Don’t show me fucking anything about baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, and especially not American football. I AM NOT YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE.
Also, I have to block a large fraction of my social feeds at certain times of the year because all they talk about are sports.
