I have always thought of it as how graffiti taggers work. They are always tagging over each other’s work. The last one to paint gets the most exposure but you can still see remnants of more recent taggers the lay under the topmost. Eventually the oldest stuff just gets covered completely. They don’t necessarily pick their canvas because there is other work they try to cover up, they pick their canvas for the location and exposure.
Are you just talking about dynamic DNS services for one or a few home servers?
There’s always DynDNS, but that’s a paid service. I actually discovered that dynamic IP address service was provided free by Google when using Google Domains as the registrar, so I moved a few of my private domains over to Google several years ago to save myself $55 a year.
Unfortunately, Google Domains is shutting down and all registrar services and existing customer domains are getting moved to squarespace and I’ve not yet been able to determine if squarespace is going to be offering the free dynamic DNS service or not.
Sadly, the value of a thing is what the market will pay. You shouldn’t be mad at blizzard, you should be mad at all the more-money-than-brains people that can’t get in line fast enough to throw their money at blizzard. If it weren’t for them, blizzard couldn’t get away with that kind of pricing.
“The Thing” (1982)
I first saw this movie at the age of 13, in a very dark and creepy unfinished basement. It was terrifying.
Even after all these years, this movie still holds up very well to modern standards and stands out as one of the best sci-fi horror movies of all time. I just watched it again in October (my designated horror movie month) and it still never fails to make me uncomfortable and on edge while watching.
My standard breakfast (for years) is: 1 hard boiled egg, a large spoonful of cottage cheese, and some fruit (usually a small banana or a mandarin orange). Assuming you hard boiled the eggs in advance, the prep time is however long it takes you to peel an egg.
I’m not aware of anything proven other than diet & exercise. There are a few trending weight-loss drugs hitting the market right now, but from what I’ve seen they are expensive and come with their own side effects…so for me, it’s just doing it the proven old-fashioned way: diet & exercise.
Visceral fat builds up slowly over time (years) and the changes can be very subtle and unnoticeable until one day you just notice it.
For Kwashiorkor - I really don’t know. It’s just something I’d heard of before, so I found a link to a description and dropped the reference. There are probably lots of other things it could be that I just haven’t heard about.
I, personally, am affected by visceral fat and have been taking steps to lose it and that process is also very slow going, so I currently look like an average guy, but with a pronounced belly. It makes me look like shit in a t-shirt and has caused me to suffer from high blood pressure.

The only way this wouldn’t meet the definition of ‘execution’ is if it were an accidental shooting, which I find hard to believe when it involved 2 dead. Are you confusing the word ‘execution’ with ‘assassination’, which would imply there was both planning and pre-selection of the targets? No one is saying this was an assassination.

On the surface this comes across as SciFi, but it’s a true classic horror with a scifi backdrop. It’s essential watching for any horror genre fan, IMO.
All of the Hellraiser movies (some are great, some are not so great, but it’s worth it to work through all of them in order). The newest was kind of a re-imagining and you can start there if you want).
The Thing - the 1982 film is a classic, but the newest one is a prequel that came decades after the original movie- I’d recommend watching both, starting with the original.
All the alien movies. Some don’t consider Sci-Fi horror to be true horror, but these are essential watching. I consider it to be the best complete horror series of movies ever made.
Vampire’s Kiss (Nicholas Cage) - this is truly bizarre and if you are a Nick Cage fan it should be considered required watching.
Barbarian (2022) - simultaneously mind blowing and absolutely terrifying. Probably the best horror of the past 5 years.
The Mist - and mainly just for the ending which was a total mindfuck.
Train to Busan - This is a Korean made film (with subtitles) in the zombie genre, and is absolutely riveting.
World War Z - an outstanding zombie genre movie - one of the first zombie movies to feature fast moving parkour capable zombies as opposed to the slow moving classic zombies.
American Psycho - scary because this could (and does) happen and you could be standing right next to the next American Psycho right now and not even know it.
Maximum Overdrive - doesn’t get recommended a lot, but it holds up and is a great machine-uprising type of horror.
Event Horizon - propped up as SciFi Horror but this is a classic true horror just with a scifi backdrop.
I WISH there would be a modern remake of “Scanners”. Scanners is great horror from decades past but it just doesn’t hold up well to modern standards-it desperately needs a modern remake.
To keep the analogy going, they would have to have raped and beheaded the occupants of the death star before actually blowing them up…and the Death Star would have to have been an Imperial tourist destination with not just Imperial citizens, but also visiting citizens from all across the galaxy…but if that’s what George Lucas had filmed, I think there would have been a lot less sympathy for the rebels.
I assume you mean “CO” detector. CO2 is Carbon Dioxide and I don’t think you went out and purchased and installed a detector for that.

I’ll also point out that not all CO detectors are created equal. There was a lot of news about this earlier this year where a number of CO detectors sold on Amazon simply did not work, or did not meet published safety and detection standards. CO detectors also need to be replaced (they don’t last forever). Most use chemistry to detect CO levels, and that chemistry begins degrading as soon as the unit is built. Some last just a couple years, some are designed to last up to 10 years, but the point is - they all go bad eventually. How old is your detector?
Smoke detectors can also be fooled by high moisture.
I usually don’t buy smoke/CO combo units (I prefer separate detectors for each thing), but I do have a combo unit in a hallway in my upstairs - and it’s got a great feature where it announces by voice what is triggering the alarm (“smoke” or “carbon monoxide”). Does yours do that or does it just sound the same alarm regardless of what was detected?

Every pair of boots I’ve owned have needed breaking in before becoming comfortable, and then they remained comfortable for the duration of their life.
If our eyes had the concept of shutter speed, then there would be shutter speed amount of delay before our brains could process the collected image (keeping the analogy of how a camera works). The penalty of a delay before the brain can process the image would be way worse than what we currently experience, which is degraded night vision.
Perceiving and reacting to motion quickly is way more advantageous than perceiving a high quality image (for survival).
If answering the email requires writing a book to anticipate all the possible questions or options or complications that might come up, then no it’s not disrespectful to call someone instead.
