Lol ya had me in the first half…
Lol ya had me in the first half…
Lol fair enough.
You seems to not grasp why people don’t like the mouse charging design. Yes you can do all of those things you mentioned and its probably fine. Why people hate it though? Apple is forcing you to use their products the way they want you to. You’re changing your whole workflow to bend to their will. That’s why people hate it. Not that it’s a problem, but that you now have to mess around and take 15 minutes out or your day waiting for a mouse to charge instead of… Just plugging in a cable to a port, positioned in a sane way, the top side of the mouse!
But instead, people make up excuses and are totally fine having a corporation tell them “go get some coffee, because of our design decisions, you can’t use your product right now…”
Like, its just a weird, stupid, petty design decision. Imagine if your laptop wouldn’t charge while you used it, while every other laptop can. Sure it can have amazing battery life, but the 1 time it dies, you have to stop your work, and wait for it to charge, before using the laptop again all because someone said ‘nah, I don’t want the user to be able to use the product that way.’
Again, its stupid and petty.
Here’s an example on the bigger items: I bought a used car that was 4 years old when I bought, I’ve since owned it for 14 years, so it’s 18 years old. Yes its starting to fall apart and I should probably buy a new one soon, but in the timespan that I’ve owned a single car, my brother has bought and sold something like 7 cars.
Just the shear amount of stuff I see people buying around me all the time, is insane.

“It’s a wonderful Life”. I’m not religious but the message of the movie is very straight forward, and very important. Be a good person, always try to help others, have integrity, and try to make meaningful connections with people. You also don’t have to have a long list of accomplishments to have a meaningful life, as long you positively affect others, you’ve done good.
It’s a wonderful life used to be my favorite movie to watch around Christmas time, to remind myself of whats important in life, but now I’ve added:
The movie “About Time”. Slow down. Savor, and enjoy life. Most days I forget about the message of that movie, but I try to remind myself every now and then. It hits especially hard now as my father passed away at 80 last year.
No one mentioned Donnie Darko yet? Fantastic soundtrack.
Lol… Yeah, don’t buy things like phones or laptops from amazon. Other gadgets seem to be a better bet (like bluetooth speakers, smart watches, etc) but for some reason laptops and phones seem to be the most scammed.
Usually the best way to find new people is to get into an activity or hobby. Use meetup, or Facebook events, or other local event coordinating services to find activities or events you’re interested, go and chat with people, and if you hit it off with people after a few times seeing them, try to make a connection individually outside the group, like meeting up for coffee or a beer, etc.
The hard thing you’ll find as you age though, is there’s a finite amount of social attention people have with their lives, and as people age and establish their groups of friends, sometimes its hard to break into their circles as they’ve already kinda maxed out their in life social network. Sometimes they either aren’t really looking to add more friends, and include more people in their life, or just don’t think to invite you to events etc. Breaking though that, or finding people open to adding more to their social networks, can be hard as you age.
Openwrt is life.

Lol well you gave me a new movie to watch, looks interesting, thanks!
Coming up with dumb voices with my wife and using them around the house. This week’s is a slight higher pitched voice with an Italian accent saying “ooh, I know!”, elongated and drawn out.
“I walked in and people started yelling and i said, ohh I know! I know!”
Not the most annoying, but the most stupid and simple: The fact that even in windows 10 (not sure about 11), you couldn’t set custom keyboard shortcuts for volume up and down. I have had the right Ctrl+shift+up/down arrows bound to the volume up/down, since i started using Linux as my desktop fulltime over 10 years ago, and windows still won’t let you do that out of the box.
