The gun groups I’m part of have regular Stop The Bleed seminars/training. Ive put a lot of practice TQs on myself, we’ve gone over wound packing, hell even how to convince someone expirencing blood loss to not loosen the tourniquet because no your arm/leg isnt going to go so numb it dies and yes it DOES need to be this tight. For my friends that are curious I make sure to take them shooting because I know I’m capable of teaching proper safety and maintaining as safe an environment you can for that, and, like you alluded to, if there’s a gun behind every blade of grass, you really should understand how they work and what their limits are or you risk not having enough information to make good decisions in situations with firearms present. Like imagine trying to cross a road if you had no idea how cars worked at all. Universal education around guns alone would save lives even with no other changes.

If the second amendment is a right then imo education should be the states responsibility and financial burden. In an ideal world anyway. However removing free education materials without anything like that in it’s place isn’t going to make anyone safer.

And now many people won’t learn it at all. But here’s the secret, those people will still get guns, their parents still have guns and don’t give a fuck about safety. Now they have no choice but to learn from their parents. This is not the win you think it is.

This is comparable to abstinence only education. Ignoring teaching how to safely handle yourself because it goes over ‘scary’ topics has never made us safer.

The alternative to vigilantism is letting the courts and cops handle it. The courts and cops have been fileld with those people. It’s exactly what this conversation is about. If the system was just there would be no need for external actions. That was the first sentence of my first comment.

Solving violence with violence is literally what the government does as soon as it’s at an impass. Weather its cops, military, or politicians vioence is how the world currently works, people just freak out when its not their state doing the violence. The state often times ‘solves’ even non violence with violence. How were the recent protestors cleared off college campuses for a softball example? Private individuals are far easier to hold accountable than cops as is consistently proven in court. If you’re worried about unaccountable violence, look first to the state.

Conspiraing to commit crimes is a thing you can be charged for. Few if any people get away with crimes they planned just because they got stopped before they can do them.
