The last instructions I had involved downloading an older version of the Kindle desktop app to grab the books, and I couldn’t find that one except on style rather sketchy looking sites that I didn’t trust running executables from.

Yeah, I’ve had a few sellers among a lot of orders try to pull a fast one, but by-and-large they’ve been good and the few that arrived bad I did get refunded for. The main thing I’d say is to be careful of things that plug in but don’t meet electrical code in your country (Amazon is getting bad for this as well) as that’s definitely some janky stuff you can find
I’ve been fairly happy with Alfred locks using ZigBee. There’s still a Bluetooth+App component to those as well for adding choices but you don’t need it to use ZigBee for locking/unlocking or viewing status.
Don’t use the wifi bridge though. I briefly tried that and it connects to some address hosted in AliCloud of all frigging places

Just do a “RetroPie” install on Linux. It was originally built for Pi’s but works fine on 64-bit Debian/Ubuntu etc
Yeah that seems weird. I have some wood PLA and it very much looks (and sounds) like wood especially once you smooth it out and paint/stain it. Pretty much seems like a printable version of wood-filler

For companies that have a legacy product depending on the old OS, but unpatched vulnerabilities because said OS is EoL, maybe this may one day be an appealing option.
There are a ton that have weird fucking usernames. I was confused at first why my Bluetooth was showing BobByJimSmith4345 as the “artist” after telling it to play a song, but yeah they’ll pretty much just look whatever up by name from YouTube and play it.

Any training data almost certainly has biases. For awhile, if you asked for pictures of people eating waffles or fried chicken they’d very likely be black.
Most of the pictures I tried of kid-type characters were blue eyed.
Then people review the output and say "hey this might still racist, so they tweak things to “diversity” the output. This is likely the result of that, where they’ve “fixed” one “problem” and created another.

Yeah I had similar issues. My old laptop (back venue I swore off HP, and one of the contributing reasons) had an issue where if you loaded an app and it needed memory that spanned both RAM chips… it would power cycle. Most users at the time reported the issue using Photoshop at the time so HP released a patch… that fixed it for Photoshop.
The actual issue lay in the Northbridge of he laptop and was a defect. HP refused to refund the laptop even though it was fairly early within the warranty period. Best I could do was run with one - slightly larger - stick of RAM than what the thing shipped with.
Depending on the install method, the key may be in the EFI (motherboard) or on the drive.
If it’s on the drive, then “magic jellybean keyfinder” can grab it for you.
If it’s in the EFI, then you may not need to enter it when replacing the drive, or you could not a Linux disk and look in /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM
Given a rant like this I wouldn’t be trusting his code. Admin access to a backend and ability to write to the underlying filesystem+configs are two different layers. Yeah in many cases they may be the same admin, but not necessarily. It also means a compromised admin UI user can modify the underlying system to hide their tracks.
It’s like saying it’s ok to have a hypervisor breakout because it requires you to have root in the underlying VM to exploit and only trusted admins have root…
Yeah Handbrake does fine for my collection. Results depend greatly on what encoding you options you use
But the game is running on a computer with the emulator which still strongly lends to it being software
