Any AAA game that hasn’t proven it can retain a playerbase for longer than 4 years is overhyped.

In the same way that your friend who drinks a couple beers a day after work is probably fine, you’re probably fine spending a few hours after work playing games.

Im 25, but probably an even 30.

Lot of older folks will not hang with people under 30. They still see them as kids. I’d like to avoid that social issue if I’m gonna permanently be an age forever.

I try my best not to talk with them. End up talking with them more than I’d like.

Harm was going to happen no matter what you do in the trolley problem. There is no situation where harm does not happen, but there is a situation where you directly are causing harm.

If you give 100 different variations of the problem, I’ll answer 100 different ways, because 100 different questions were asked. Almost none of them actually having a real world application, because there are very few situations in life where a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc option does not exist.

Personally, if I could go the rest of my life without hearing about the trolley problem that’d be great actually.

I don’t remember the trolley problem being a question with a right and a wrong answer.

Not a parent, but here’s my perspective.

My mother always made me work for it. She had a door open policy among other things. She didn’t actually care if I was doing the things I wasn’t supposed to be doing, she just didn’t want to find out. If she found out, it meant I was being too careless/stupid. It’s actually a really good way to build up your risk evaluation skills! I did occasionally get myself in trouble (not with sex but other things), and she would help me out of the situation. Id get a lecture about what I did wrong afterwards, but honestly she was pretty good at teaching me.

Unreal usually has an engine.ini file somewhere. You can more or less mod that file with as many parameters as you can find and nuke the graphics into oblivion. Has worked really well on most games I’ve tried. Especially useful with games that force trash AA and volumetric fog stuff.

I had an aggressive gambling problem as a teen. 2016 would have been my worst because I was still gambling on counter strike skin sites. I’d save up every dollar mom would give me to run to the store or whatever (I’d lie and say things were more expensive than they were), throw it onto prepaid visas and just waste it.

I can’t even begin to describe the amount that I spent.

I don’t even apologize when I am wrong, instead I just sit alone alot and think about all the friends I used to have.

I can’t speak for the other games, but as a former player, FIFA did change a lot each year, usually its changes to physics, game speed, skill moves, mini games, and ofc graphics. Not $60 worth of game changes, but I’d argue it’s similar with things like call of duty. Best value was always to skip every other year.

Also gambling. Doesn’t get talked about enough but FIFA YouTubers are more or less payed by EA to shill packs and get people (usually teens) addicted to opening them. I probably bought $200 a year on packs from 2016-2020, usually money I didnt have too. Mostly why I stopped buying the games. (Stopped playing CounterStrike for the same reason)

These days, I just casually play mods of older games and get football manager every other game.

If you’re that old, you probably want to be, and that’s totally okay.

I appreciate your correction Davel. I’ve seen some of your posts/comments in the past and they have always been informative on this topic.

I understand western notions of prisons paint ugly pictures of grey walls and metal bars so if they are given that much autonomy during the process, maybe that term was misleading and I apologize.

I do take issue with the hypothetical terrorist rebuttal though, because the same thing can be applied to the US policies. Yes, we did have terrorist attacks done against us. That doesn’t mean that every person we locked up as a terrorist was one.

You might have the trust that China is telling the truth and isn’t doing something similar, that’s a valid enough position to have. Im still not personally convinced.

Just pick one, if she doesn’t like it try the other, and if she does like it and gets proficient at it, maybe she can try the other later on. Really can’t go wrong here. I knew plenty of kids when I was in school who had done multiple combat sports and martial arts over the years.

You can become black belt in most martial arts as young as 15-16 (assuming you have the skills required). I can imagine that kinda achievement being a core childhood memory. 10 years of hardwork being rewarded!
