Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If the earth was conscious how would we know?
101·2 days agoNature lets me know that despite me being an atheist she has an eye on me.
Typically this is done by a bird-of-prey consistently watching me.
An owl and a hawk most recently, in places unexpected.
Poor hawk was not happy in the rain. Turns out neither was I, and that trip was fuckin’ useless to-boot. (Save that I saw the hawk.)

1·2 days agoTBF (to myself) I sometimes use a clickbaity title if I think it sounds good.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" is impossible, because time changes whenever we try to do the same thing.
17·2 days agoI am right.
“Actually in practise” isn’t what this post is about.
and at -1 I’ll be pedantic.
I am correct. Equivocate as you will. But I am right.

38·2 days agoAt -1 I feel the need to state, I am right though, no?
Much and not at all are two vastly varying definitions in science.
And in this, I am right. Downvotes or not. Hill=dying.

21·2 days agoNow a better question is if you asked us if we read the linked article before commenting lol.
Touché.
(I typically don’t, myself. I look for a reply that gives me a tl;dr of it.)

76·2 days agoAs an example, steel before 1940s didn’t have minuscule traces of atmospheric radiation in it.
Research conducted after the atmosphere had increased radiation would be different to research conducted after, in that vein.
Scavenging WW1 wrecks for non-contaminated steel for use in things like medical equipment is still ongoing, as an example.
Time can certainly change the answer to a question without any input from the individual user.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What mediocre game, show, or movie has an incredible soundtrack?
4·2 days agoRecently got reminded of this (sadly) due to Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa passing.
The first “MORTAL KOOOOMBAT” yell from the song still owns some space in my head.
An aside: I wonder how much the global population-increase will lower once we get tech like holodecks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Women of Ask Lemmy, what are your thoughts on this phrase, "if the bra and panties match, you weren't the one who decided to have sex tonight."
6·2 days agoIf it doesn’t have stains or holes I’m counting it as a matching set.
lol
I never thought I’d get into thrift shopping. Now I regularly visit a couple local thrift shops and have gotten some pretty decent finds. (Which excites me more than it probably should. Being an adult is not what I expected. lé sigh )

10·2 days agoIt also kind of feels like something a dudebro might say later after he pressured his drunk date into something she didn’t want to do.
To be clear it was a 29 yr old straight woman telling an 18 yr old straight guy this. (Who maintained a platonic relationship of “bis sis/lil bro” for many years.)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What unique thing bothers you about politics in general?
1·2 days agoSmart informed people can be manipulated as well.
It’s a flaw in how our brains have evolved. (Evolution is such a random bitch of a force, just look at me anthropomorphize her while typing on a QWERTY keyboard specifically designed to slow me down!)
We need to account for it instead of using it against ourselves.

3·2 days agoWeirdest Sheridan and Londo fanfic I’ve ever seen. 👍
Not a real response to your question, but the first thing I thought of (it’s not an infection):
The scarring from a lightning strike can, to me at least, look hauntingly beautiful.
If you’re writing in any sort of fantastical setting you can just make up a non-life threatening infection that mimics it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What mediocre game, show, or movie has an incredible soundtrack?
7·2 days agoJust thought of another answer.
Queen of the Damned movie.
Wore out the CD back in the early 00s. Had some pretty damn big names doing songs for the OST, Kidney Thieves: Before I’m Dead is still something I listen to on occasion to this day.
Might be a bit of nostalgia and bias in this answer though.

6·2 days agoI think “mediocre” in this context would be mediocre to most people. Rather than you specifically. At least, that’s why I added some brackets explaining my Tron: Legacy answer in this post. (I personally don’t think it’s mediocre but imagine most did.)

Please reply to my ask-ouija post.
