I smelled pure liquid chlorine up close for the first time and it is what I associate as the pool smell.

Today, yes, I agree. It’s really hard to compete with them anymore. But 15 years ago when everyone was rushing to capture the market, there were many opportunities to do so. Steam and valve were never infallible, but at least they took feedback and stayed consistent, unlike their competitors.
They are a monopoly because they’ve had the best product on the market consistently for 15 years. There used to be huge resistance to them and their drm from gamers, but they have shown over many years that they are trustworthy, unlike others that have tried this.
This is not an Apple or Google store situation where proper competition could not exist. They were always up against giants like Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft or more recently Epic.
Even with the unified roaming prices, to this day I don’t have sms included, but I have 30gb of data.
This is news to me. Everyone I know just uses WhatsApp or Facebook messenger or even telegram. I haven’t sent a sms in years and only received from banks or telco operators.
Exactly. It’s an easy fix. I haven’t had a mouse break in the last 10 years. The coatings start falling off before the clicks are a problem any more.
If your family would be upset to lose you, I imagine they love you and they would be upset no matter the way it happens. You might be trapped now, but life is long and full of opportunities. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Seek help, go to therapy, work on yourself and grab life by the balls. This humble stranger on the internet believes in you.
If it’s true that younger folks are more tech illiterate then Lemmy would be a non starter for them because it’s more complicated to understand and use compared to centralized services.
This is on me for sure that I’ve never seen anyone be faster using a CLI compared to a GUI especially for basic operations which is what most of us do 95% of the time. I know there are specific cases where a command just does it better/easier but for me that’s not the case for everyday stuff.
I know I’m going to get down voted for this but this would be almost impossible to fuck up with a gui. Yet people insist that writing commands manually is superior. I’m sorry for your loss.
I’m sorry for you. But you can be the change you want to see. Break the cycle.
Having your kids disconnect from you as a safety net, confidant and role model is a huge failure as a parent.
The rules for life actually appearing and remaining viable may as well have been created by something, no one can confirm or deny it scientifically with today’s information, but what evolution describes is how those rules lead life to take the forms that it takes and how it continues to change as centuries go by. It describes observable facts about life on our planet and nothing else. I would say it doesn’t actually disprove creation completely, just the so called intelligent design of individual species, including humans.
This is dependent on where you live. For me it’s handshakes for first meeting, hugs or waves after that, kisses for close friends.
This exists in Sync for Lemmy. I couldn’t live without it tbh.
Quite a common feature in Europe. Gives the animals safe passage over busy roads.
The older I get the less I care about endless gameplay loops and carrot on a stick mechanics. A good story keeps me invested and caring about what happens on the screen. Games like God of War, Last of us, Witcher are gold standards when it comes to this. They are not movies on rails, they are engaging and interactive experiences like you can’t find anywhere else and for this I will always love these types of games more than any other medium.
Edit: OP literally mentioned these games as examples lower down in the thread.
They were so fucking elitist in the past it was hard for anyone else to enjoy themselves because they did not fit the mold of tRuE gamers.
Amen to this. OP if you focused on career and income by this point maybe you have some spare money to use on a personal fitness coach. They will help guide and motivate you which long term should help with all manner of issues you might be dealing with, from mental to health. Good luck. You can do it!
I had an ipad pro and it was an awful experience for me. Lack of customizations I deem normal, lack of real choice, limitations at every step. The walled garden felt hostile to me, the user. I sold it and got a Samsung tablet instead and it’s been perfect. The only thing missing is procreate, but I have alternatives that do 99% of what I wanted.
