So the generalized impression I get from the article is that gen ai creates more work for artists.
The username is the joke.
I’m not putting in more effort than you clowns unless I feel like it lol

m365 has done so much damage to computing. Same deal with google’s equivalent.

Like everything else in this world, we need to wait for HBM to crash or for a competitor to get massive funding for DRAM when it becomes more profitable.
Companies only exist to seek profit, and HBM is way more profitable than anything they made for consumers.
It’s possible this will precipitate a reduction in HBM costs until they come down to consumer levels, then we might end up with HBM instead of (G)DDR.

Reducing the valid time will not solve the underlying problems they are trying to fix.
We’re just gonna see more and more mass outages over time especially if this reduces to an uncomfortably short duration. Imagine what might happen if a mass crowdflare/microsoft/amazon/google outage that goes on perhaps a week or two? what if the CAs we use go down longer than the expiration period?
Sure, the current goal is to move everybody over to ACME but now that’s yet another piece of software that has to be monitored, may have flaws or exploits, may not always run as expected… and has dozens of variations with dependencies and libraries that will have various levels of security of their own and potentially more vulnerabilities.
I don’t have the solution, I just don’t see this as fixing anything. What’s the replacement?

This should be criminal, somehow.

So you’re telling us to touch cows.

Try Linux lately?
If your use case is general computing, gaming or whatnot, it’s in a great state today.

That’s to keep money flowing to the people sponsoring the politicans to keep them in power. It’s one big circlejerk.
Why do you think we have all these private prisons in the south? It isn’t helping crime rates… it’s getting the owners paid… and since they’re mostly black and brown people the locals LOVE it. Tough on crime… so long as it’s not wealthy people crime.

I’d argue that a responsible country should have something like a 10 year emergency fund. You never know when some natural disaster might come along and cripple a critical segment of your country’s production.
Instead they’ll just print more money and rob the poor and middle class through inflation… which drives stock prices up keeping the wealth of the wealthy fairly protected while the poors stay at the same level of income and have less proportional assets.

Oh no, someone is critical of GN! must be LTT!
That guy is dumb but very obviously a sellout lol.

He blew the doors off of something we already knew was happening.
The sea of coreless and ram-less consumer GPUs is all over the second hand market in the US. We all knew those chips ended up in china. We all knew nvidia was seeking profits at any cost and chinese money is the white whale of many an MBA’s focus (before getting chased out by the party for not being chinese or owned by chinese anyway…)
It would be way more interesting to know if now after china said no more nvidia if the flow of chips is ongoing, but they probably won’t ever cover that.
You also won’t see too much critical of Google on their channel despite it being one of the biggest threats to privacy and safety, for obvious reasons. Can’t hurt the hand that feeds I guess.

While I don’t doubt there are considerable skeletons in all these parties closets, I do doubt the GN guy.
GN chases down every possible ounce of rage bait and controversy without fail. A lot of the time it fizzles out or doesn’t stand up to any kind of real scrutiny. My fear is that they are more interested in ad revenue generating clicks than honest unbiased journalism.
We do need a network of publicly funded journalism organizations, but being reliant on google’s tit and under the jurisdiction of US law is probably not the way to do it.

Is Sega in the room with us now?

Pretty much. As-is the system is guilty until proven innocent, which is hosed.

Honestly, I don’t know if we’ll find out what the real bribe amounts are until some people’s memoirs are published after they die or are out of the rat race in the US. It’s too soon.
Million dollar dinners are a thing though that have hit the news multiple times this year. Who knows how much it costs to kiss the ring in reality, but you can bet your ass all these rich crooks getting pardons in the news right now have paid up… and the ones who have paid for those dinners seem to have the government on their side, so long as they do not say anything negative about the administration.

No sir, you misunderstand.
This is the 21st century american version of paying for indulgences. However, we’re not talking about holy sins, we’re talking about a total pardon for all known and unknown crimes, immunity from prosecution by the government and perhaps even prosecution against any enemies you may have whom have not also paid for their million dollar dinner.
You’re not just paying for the best plate of food available at the million dollar dinner for those paying the price, they’re offering true honest to god fixing of whatever regulatory and legal hurdles you might have… and for a special price they can upgrade you to the gold tier which includes fixing supreme court judgements in nearly any case.
Act now! Dinner times and their benefits are limited for three years, death by natural causes or if impeached or otherwise removed from office. The sooner you buy, the sooner you win!

If you ask me, what we really need is an army of bots going around and literally DMCAing absolutely everything on behalf of every business out there that is submitting DMCA requests. Make the process practically impossible to police until someone forces a legislation action that fixes the whole system.
Erroneous DMCA requests should be so severe that once one is reported by a company authorized to perform the requests on behalf of the IP holder, the IP holder should be barred from any agents on their behalf performing them for a time period of at least 90 days… with treble fines. It would be so much fun creating content that baits DMCA but is clearly fair use to break all their shit.
Unless someone is copying what you do nearly 1:1, dmca should not be valid. These clowns and crooks running for office talk all about how regulation stifles innovation and this is a true case for sure. So many small business owners are getting fucked by the wild west of DMCA takedowns today.

Are you a crook that has money?
Do you want a pardon?
Contact the trump administration TODAY!!!

What do you expect? they haven’t done their million dollar dinner in florida yet.
Yes, it is creating a change and a change creates many pain points. The same old story of leadership bullshit ideas vs how the work actually gets done is something that will have to be addressed no matter what.
Pandora’s box is open and will never close again. The perception of executive leadership is that it eliminates work, because they have no idea how the sausage is made now, even if they were artists for decades before becoming executives.
Any company that fires their artists today is gonna be hiring all those positions again anyway
