  • Because I’m so frigging hot, I’m so frigging thirsty, I’m so hungry, that I think I’m hallucinating the turtle. I’ve been trudging through a desert way and now a turtle pops up in the desert out of nowhere. Is the turtle even real, can I not distinguish reality anymore … would eating it help quench my thirst and anger? Is it wrong to feel no emotion?

I don’t think the test itself is designed to measure emotional response so much as the emotional nuance and the 35 ms latency delay glitch in the Nexus-5 models when dealing with it.

  • … He does realize they can’t just shit on international organizations like the UN and USAID and expect the rest of the world to follow them tow in line, right? Specially given this will affect those regions for whom climate change would actually be beneficial.

Anyway, this sounds more like a bullshit excuse to do nothing about the causes of climate change. This would have excessive costs of the solution and the maintenance that would likely have to be footed by society and not the people who do everything to avoid taxes like Musk. This would give polluters an excuse to pollute more and a way to put even more chokeholds around societies.

But even more fundamentally, climate change is due to things like carbon dioxide basically reflecting heat back onto the planet. Dampening sunlight doesn’t just block heat, it dampens the entire electromagnetic spectrum. For a speculative solution you would be adding additional problems ecosystems would have to deal with.

How about narcissistic self-obsessed psychopaths stop trying to milk society for all they have as fast and much as possible? They can start by paying taxes and not engineering entire political programs to subvert democracies for personal gain.

  • This isn’t inconveniencing anyone but the 1% of the 1% of cases. If you are going make a political tirade out of this, you should choose your punching bag better, this isn’t even vague at all but just a bureaucratic mistake. There are cases where the term biological sex can be “hopelessly vague” but this isn’t it as much as you might like it otherwise, and this just makes the people behind the decision look bad.

The kid identifies as cis, everyone of his classmates see him for his gender, hormone and chromosomal expression are likely standard cis. People better hope that it can’t be traced back to any sort of political baggage, or that if it is, that it is due to conservative influence, because this is going to backfire spectacularly. It isn’t going to make or break any of the laws behind it, but it is illustrating a certain lack of humanity on the people enforcing the law, and that gives mouthpieces with an axe to grind something to barrage behind.

Kudos on being trans and defending “the law is the law” in regards to transphobic laws. Wanna know a secret? They don’t care about the law, look at Trump. Another secret, the law itself is only defined by when its chosen to be enforced, cue hundreds of outdated laws still on the books. Sarcasm aside, the sadism of sharing the pain is never constructive, but isn’t even really applicable in this case, this is just an article blowing up because a newspaper needed to sell stories and fight against the bureaucracy is always an enticing one.

Mental gymnastics cannot make up for a lack of humanity, which is precisely the problem of transphobes. I’d recommend emulating them less in this regard just because you think you can argue a hallmark out of the case.

  • It’s growing everywhere. The problem is subjective, which is why the current model fails. I’ve tried to suggest ones in the past where users have more control about general moderation in their communities or can at least choose their curators, with communities themselves are more decentralized from their instances, but there is no interest, at least not in losing that power of control.

The people who downvote after every reply don’t really help, they either just want the last word or aren’t really interested in an honest conversation. The anonymous downvotes don’t really help either (specially when they coincide with thread upvotes coming from accounts with no comment or post history that just seem interested in nudging the conversation to an alt).

  • I’m literally hearing Catholic faith ministers in Europe on the radio speak about Charlie Kirk as if he was some sort of religious icon, when normally they wouldn’t care less about local pop culture figures in other countries who weren’t even Catholic.

I suspect that whatever succeeded Cambridge Analytica and is getting financed by the oligarchs now toppling the US government has now also moved on from just targeting influencers online to more traditional influencers that will freely spread their whitewashed portrayal on their mediums. They sort of have to do this because, like Russia discovered as they began their war with Ukraine and Trump did when COVID happened during his first term, their foreign propaganda breaks apart when they have been artificially imposed on local talking with very different perspectives - they have to normalize the talking points on those most vulnerable yet most influential so that they are all brainwashed in generally the same way and spread the same emotionally based drivel filled with half truths and outright lies.
