I really think George Lucas as director was the problem there. Hayden Christiansen isn’t a terrible actor. Neither is Natalie Portman or Ewan McGregor. But all three of them have just terrible, awful line reads in those movies.

Portman’s career took a hit from those movies, though she recovered because she already had a foothold in the industry. McGregor was a well-known actor already, so he wasn’t hurt. Christiansen got demolished.

A bad actor makes themself look bad. A bad director makes every actor look bad.

Even the steam store just feels different now. Its full of gooner porn bait visual novels and mundane activity sims and 1 season relevant fps shooters.

For what it’s worth, I recently learned you can turn off the gooner porn bait visual novels in the store without turning off incidental sexual content games like BG3. They have gradations of sexual content.

(This doesn’t solve the other categories, but I suspect you can tailor your store experience to limit those as well.)

Being involuntarily committed requires a present danger to yourself or others. Curiosity is not that. Talk to a therapist, it can really help.

(Also, for what it’s worth, being committed can really help. I spent a few days in a mental health ward and, while I wanted nothing more than to get out at the time, it ended up being very good for me. Unfortunately it also meant I started avoiding talking to a therapist, like you’re doing. I regret that result immensely, therapy is too useful.)

Seriously though, I’m sorry to hear that. The first time I had COVID it did a number on my voice. I’m not convinced I’ve ever completely recovered, because singing isn’t as easy as I remember it being. I require more breath support than I used to, and sometimes struggle to maintain intonation on surprising notes. Like, not low or high in my range, notes that should be easy.

But it’s better now than it was right after COVID. Much better. I hope yours improves!

Pseudoephedrine (decongestant), dextromethorphan (cough suppressant), guafenesin (expectorant), and either ibuprofen or acetaminophen/paracetamol (pain relief/fever reduction). Or some other substitutions.

“Advil Cold and Sinus” is a brand name for the ibuprofen/pseudoephendrine combination over the border in Michigan. I assume you can get it at a pharmacy in Canada, but to get the actually good stuff I’m guessing you have to ask a pharmacist, because at least in the US it’s behind the counter due to pseudoephedrine’s use as a precursor for methamphetamine.

You can get dextromethorphan and guafenesin in cough syrup, though sometimes you can also get it in pill form. Careful, some cough syrups also contain acetaminophen/paracetamol.

You can also go the easy route of DayQuil/NyQuil or equivalents, this is usually effective enough for mild cases but I like to get the pseudoephedrine for the bad ones.

With a viral infection generally the only thing worth doing is fighting the symptoms. Your body will clear the infection with time. Using antibiotics appears to work because the infection was going to clear anyway. So you take the antibiotics and the viral infection goes away, but it would also have gone away had you not taken the antibiotics. But of course you can’t copy yourself and test this.

Edit: Oh, be sure to eat something when you take ibuprofen or your stomach will not be happy with you.

The way I like to think about therapy is you’re paying for access to a second brain, a well-trained one, to help you think through stuff. A good therapist guides you instead of leading you.

I think you’re onto something. Switching to Windows would be painful to anyone used to Linux regardless of all the philosophical differences simply because the OS works differently. Lord knows I despise MacOS despite people who use it saying, “it just works.”
