Pff, millions? How about 3 billions!
Technically, it’s not about the display technology, but instead about the signal/tuner. More specifically if it’s analog or digital. Some modern TVs still have analog or hybrid tuners for backwards compatibility and regions that still use analog, so they can display static. For instance, in Ukraine we finished the switch to digital TV only a couple of years ago. If your TV had no digital tuner (as was the case for many) you had to buy a DAC box. Retirees/pensioners got them for free, sponsored by the government.
Or worse… expelled.
– No, don’t call my mother, she’ll be so mad! She told me that if I die I shouldn’t come back home for dinner…
Appreciate the Cutting Crew reference. But I can and I will.
According to my brain, every time I have to interact with a stranger.
This is Lemmy, you scroll for 5 mins and you’ve seen all the worthy posts for the day.
And it’s a benefit in my book.
Curved relative to what?
Edit: Nvm, I understood what you mean. But I think it’s a pedantic take. They obviously mean it in the context of the surface of the sphere.
Idk about “so many” other instances, but this post is clickbait. Company just hired 2 cosplayers for entertainment and didn’t claim they were robots. It’s no different from what Musk did for his robot reveal.
Nobody was busted, this is a clickbait post. Even the article just says they hired 2 cosplayers as entertainers, company never pretended that they were robots.
There aren’t that many. A good chunk of us here are Linux nerds. You don’t have to be condescending about confronting (I assume) intentional misinterpretation of comments.
I suppose, at this point, I want to understand whether you accidentally misinterpreted the context of the original comment (downloading .exe from TPB) or intentionally misinterpreted it for “comedic effect”.
So is your point to argue semantics?
“Downloading” colloquially referes to the proces of saving some data onto persistent storage device. When you open HTML pages they are loaded directly into RAM. They might be saved to drive if they are cached. But no regular person would refer to that process as downloading. Even I, as a webdev, don’t.
In that case your comment doesn’t make much sense, because when people say “don’t trust that torrent site” they mean the contents of the torrents hosted there. In fact, if you use magnets, you don’t download anything at all from torrent sites ever.
Don’t you ever pirate software?
What truly blows my mind is the amount of requests the 1st party Reddit app sends home. Back when I was using Sync I still had the app installed, but then I set up AdguardHome and saw that my phone was spamming requests. Checked the logs and found out that the 1st party app, which I wasn’t even using for months, was “phoning home” literally every 10 seconds! Besides privacy concerns, that can’t be good for battery life. Nuked the app then and there. I’ll take the nagging, thank you.
Yes. And I think better make it obvious that votes aren’t private, instead of people wrongly assuming that they are.
I still think it’s just unfair. You can lookup votes and harass people only IF you know enough about computers. Anybody persistent enough to harass other people will put a little bit of work into being able to look up votes.
In addition, as we can see, this “semi-privacy” confuses a lot of people. Better that all users KNOW that their votes are visible, instead of them thinking they are private.
Are there actually people complaining that she’s ugly…? She literally looks like a model, just with some scars.
