I watch two people on twitch. I know both those people in real life but they live pretty far away from me. It’s a way to interact with them and watch them play games etc. That’s literally all I use it for.

It all depends on the generics. I buy generic cereal. But only certain ones because other ones I have tried aren’t the same as the name brand and I like the name brand. Sometimes it’s as simple as texture difference or a difference in flavor.

In the case of my epi-pens, the generic injectors don’t work exactly the same and that can be a bit much in an emergency where your throat is swelling shut or you’re having difficulty breathing.

In the case of something over the counter, I’d still wager things like mouth feel, smell, or other sensory factors are a reason. Like for instance, I prefer the smooth coating on Advil to the matte coating on Motrin or other ibuprofen generic meds.

I’ve been trying to Google it and haven’t come up with anything. It’s been literally article after article of “ex-target” employees making the claim. Might mean it’s an old wives tale they spread around to each other. Might be that it actually does happen infrequently (probably to repeat offenders who don’t get caught in the act but do get caught when footage is reviewed).

Given the number of people this law firm has represented and the fact that for the most part they were not prosecuted for felony theft according to this article, my guess is that it happens sometimes but isn’t standard practice.

In the context of the internet at large seeming to believe every user is male? I’d say that’s still standard practice here even if it’s not as prevalent an assumption as on other social media. How much that matters though is subjective.

This. There are just certain ideologies that are so anti-human that the only way to deal with them is violence because they can’t be tolerated or reasoned with. Nazis know exactly what history says about them and they actively choose these hateful ideologies to believe in and follow. I wouldn’t punch a random person on the street unless they were a threat. Nazis by their very existence are a threat. That threat is not existential.

I wouldn’t say I got it figured out, but I shut down and restarted and it started working as it should. So no harm no foul.

I actually did a restart and it’s fixed now. No idea what changed but it’s working great.

I’m having trouble using my sn30 pro on steam os. Really a little sad about that but I don’t think it’s the controller I think it’s my Bluetooth settings being weird.

In it’s current iteration, either you run a local model which has limitations that I think would prevent it from being used to this end (I don’t know that for sure, and am happy to find out if anyone does know), or you use a corporate one. Unfortunately corps seem largely to want to use AI to make money and one of the best ways to make money in the age of information is ads. There’s a reason they have become more and more prevalent despite the fact that so many people hate them.

The idea that AI would be used to prevent companies from making money seems a bit far fetched to me.

The mod log of their community says otherwise. People keep repeating that Vegans are being attacked, and honestly it seems to go both ways from what I’ve seen. I was curious about the situation and the single comment in this thread that stood out initially I believe has since been deleted but was literally using the word “carnivore” as a slur.

Several people are making it vegans vs carnivores here regardless of what the post was actually intended to be about. I’m not sure (since I believe this post was intended to be informative) that this comments section should even exist. But since it does I think it probably should have been limited to comments specifically about the verdict and the changes and rather explicitly excluded the hot button issue that touched all this off.

I’ve blocked the vegan community here after a single visit there and haven’t looked back but this comment section is very much tame in comparison.

The best I’ve got is, it’s complicated. I left reddit very purposely to avoid a lot of the corp side BS and the results of that on the user base. The number of bots and bought/paid accounts alone is enough of a reason not to go back. It’s been getting pretty steadily worse for the last decade at least and while I think the fediverse is kind of toxic, I know for a fact from first hand experience that reddit is more so by a large margin. I want Lemmy to have more users and more communities. I miss reddit for the sheer number of niche communities that haven’t moved over. I don’t have time to start and moderate a community myself. But I don’t want reddit here. I welcome users who want to follow the rules. I don’t welcome wholesale reddit occupation of this space.

I only use this name for specific accounts usually for the purposes of social media. I have a different user name and account/email etc for everything else. But this nickname was given to me by a friend so yes. I’m happy with it.
