When I was in Dubai for work it was explained to me that while it is prohibited to drink alcohol for Muslims under normal situations, they are allowed to have alcohol as part of business meetings/dinners since they court an international audience for various business prospects which is crucial for their economic future as a county.

Supposedly, that’s why everyone has a “business”, and you always see 2 bros in white robes chillin at a restaurant having drinks for a “meeting”.

A couple years agoI (at the time mid 30s male) was coming back from a movie with my GF at about 11pm waiting for a bus in the UK. Two moderately drunk guys (looked to be about 10 years younger?) were waking down the same sidewalk, and about 2 steps after they passed us, one of them turns around and goes “Mate…”, me and my GF look over and he’s looking me up and down, “… NICE ass!” then fist bumps me and keeps walking.

She was like “what the fuck was that?”

I said “meh, it happens”.

That is a perfectly good cucumber! Just picked the mother fucker. The salt and vinegar will sanitize it… And now you’ve got pickles!

Time for the most productive part of my day

Its an independent band that runs their own merch table after the show. Its not a band with 3+ decades of content that can charge $50 for a shirt.

I just turned 40. For my birthday I went to go see a small disco funk band. They run their own merch table, tour around the country in a van, have day jobs, etc. I wanted to support them so I was gonna buy a T-shirt, but it was $25, I only had $20 on me, and they didn’t take card. So I got a $15 CD. They also didn’t have any change, so I had to wait 5 minutes for them to go to the bar and get them to break a 20.

Then I got home and realized I didn’t even have a CD player. So I dug out an old DVD drive and installed in my desktop, ripped the CD to FLAC, pulled the drive out, and threw the CD into my old box of CDs I haven’t opened in 10+ years…

When XIV came out in the first couple weeks people were trying hard to get their relic weapons and you had to clear Garuda, ifrit, and titan hard mode. We had an 8 man raid group, and most of us had taken work off for a week or more. We LAN partied in one of our living rooms and when the odd one of us wasn’t online we’d just super drunk and run party finder one man down to drag some lucky random person through their relic check marks. One time I forgot to equip my job shard on Ifrit and not until the healers called for Mage’s ballad did we figure it out. Still made the kill, all the while this random person in our group was like “what on the absolute fuck is wrong with you people?! That was incredible!” We still joke that was world first Ifrit Hard mode Archer kill.

That was a really fun game with it came out. Lots of friends made being way more relaxed than WoW heroic guilds at the time.

For the record, FFIV and FFIX are the best :)

I hit Shift+Ctrl 3 times. Its easy enough and the pattern works on my desktops and laptops so I only have to remember one behavior to wake up all my devices

I use mine for Star Power in Clone Hero (Guitar Hero-ish game)

Way back in the day I always wanted one to use as my push to talk key for Ventrilo… But these days with noise reduction algorithms, boom mics with cardioid sensitivity spaces, and adjustable activation threshold, I just leave my mic on auto activate.

The thing you’re trying to take advantage of when placing a fan a meter or two from a window is that when you have a moving mass of air and it passes by static air, it “drags” the static air with it. As a result you move more air mass that what was blown by the fan directly out of the fan blades.

A blower fan still blows air in a direction, and can likely take an even bigger advantage than a traditional box fan since a blower fan’s output direction will be more orderly aka closer to a laminar flow than a box fan. But the real advantage of the blower style fan is that its enclosure allows you to direct both the intake and exhaust portions of the air being moved.

The goal is the same.

Scenario: cold air outside, hot air inside.

Goal: replace hot air inside with cold air outside.

Method: open one intake window and one exhaust window. Use a fan to blow hot air out the exhaust window while the low pressure vacuumed created inside will cause cold air to be sucked in through the intake window.

Maximize efficiency of method: follow video posted.
