All you really need is a controller for it (backbone, kishi, gamesir x2) and the retroarch app. Dump your Roms to it and done. Maybe some tweaking in retroarch

That definitely makes it harder. When I was first switching I still kept my smartphone, I just had it turned off in my bag. If I ran into something that needed it, I would use it and work out a long term solution later.

Now I split my time between a dumbphone and a de-google smartphone with very restricted apps. I take the smartphone out when I know its gonna be a busy day or I have errands, but for a basic day of going to work and back home, a dumbphone is fine

If you use a a third party processor for payments like privacy.com or PayPal does it still need the app?

YES. The Stadia controller kicks ass. I love its clicky dpads and the sticks are excellent.

I use the now infamous billionaire submarine controller, but I’ve had it for years. Logitech F710. A shockingly solid controller, though its wireless is a bit spotty.

I also have the retrobit saturn pad that I bust out for fighting games, and a couple stadia controllers I use for multiplayer.

Also a big fan of using a PS2 controller with an adapter.

at any previous job I would agree, but I work in a datacenter now that is not only quite cold, but also has lots of strong sources of blowing air that could be problematic with the wrong dress. Whenever I go to renfest I wear my kilt and fucking love it though.

oh yea they are dead simple. I had a little experience making beats before using older lofi equipment, but every time I’ve tried, I ultimately bounced off. I would make 2-3 bad beats and lose interest. This time it seems to have stuck though as I am working nearly daily on music which is very unlike me. I think the 303 is just such a sublime machine to work on once you get flowing and it just sounds SO good.

I thought about a 404mk2 but it honestly seemed TOO complicated for me. The 303 is the same skeleton but missing the expansive features that make it scary to learn.

You will have ZERO issue learning to use the 202. It doesn’t even have a sequencer. All you can really do on it is record samples and add FX to them. It is basically one button per function. It doesn’t have resampling so you have to bounce it to your 404 and back if you want to stack up its FX, but for the most part its Pitch function is most of the reason to own it. I am not sure why but the 202 stretches and pitches things SO smoothly, so much better than any SP to come after it.
