Downloading a copy of media or software is just a copy. You can make infinite copies, and you’re not taking anything away from the creator for copying it.

Thus all piracy is ethical.

Then do that, or choose not to.

You can also feed yourself by growing food or hunting. Neither of those are banned, just more inconvenient and you probably have some other skills to sell and buy food instead

Of course it’s voluntary. You choose what you buy, when you do it, how much and from whom.

If someone held you on gunpoint and told you to buy their product, that would be involuntary.

This is my thought as well. In the end it would be similar to bringing a balloon deep under water, the pressure from all sides would just compress the air inside the to match the pressure outside the balloon. Unless if the rubber had some bad imperfections that were to break under pressure, the balloon should survive.

A huge reason I’d assume is soviet occupants in post-soviet countries. Correct me if I’m wrong here, many of Russians from soviet era living in Baltics with no Russian citizenship and haven’t applied and passed local citizenship, are stateless. This is due to requirements like knowing the local language
