Vibe math. No thank you
Arthur C Clarke is an excellent author and the Rama series is one of my all-time favourites. I’d recommend anything by Philip K Dick, though honestly I think a good reference would be to pick works listed in the SF Masterworks collection, it’s how I found many of my favourite SF novels.
If you fancy venturing into modern SF classics, my favourites are by Peter F Hamilton, Iain M Banks and William Gibson; though does Gibson count? He doesn’t even have a middle initial 😄

The bat travelled 1,000 miles. It is not stated how far the car travelled.

Time to go all Wilford Brimley on his ass.

Stone cold classic.
Ghost in the Machine: Stand Alone Complex

Wireless Application Protocol. I can no longer say on my CV that I ‘worked on WAP in the early 2000s’.

It has high integration with both the Capcom Hyper Advanced Intensity Rig and the Sony Optical Firmware Adapter

Then you’ll also be really disappointed to hear that I’ve been sitting on this for over 40 years.

Yes, if you have the Logic Unit Base Expansion

Does not have a cyclotron for loan. Disappointed.

If something good is continuously almost happening, it’s ‘edging’

To be fair, your username kind of suggests you want to look inside everything anyway

Totally valid, I love Apple trackpads, makes PC laptop trackpads pale in comparison

Having used Apple computers since the Apple II+, I think I’m allowed to say that the vast majority of Apple’s mouse designs have been utter trash. The one that I might give a pass to is the ADB Mouse 2. I’m not expecting Apple to change the habit of a lifetime by designing a comfortable mouse.

Hail to the King, baby!

Obligatory shout-out for any Bullfrog games of that era, especially Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2. Lionhead’s Black & White is 1 year out of your window, but such a good game.
Also:
Syndicate Wars
Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Grim Fandango
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Descent
Grand Theft Auto

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes ranks number one for me; the original story with updated control scheme and graphics is awesome. Then it’s a toss up between 2 and V. 2 is a solid game in the same mould as the first, but V allows me to Fulton extract unsuspecting enemies which is a genius mechanic that allows me an immense range of fuckery.
