On the alt.* newsgroups, long before the average non-techie started having “internet” access through prodigy or aol or genie or whatever, it was plain to see this would be nothing but arguments between strangers.
I’m more curious about this bunker gear, and what is depicted on that sign?
Oh I am absolutely not saying you are wrong. I completely agree with you. I’m just saying while there is a lack of niche content there is also a lack of mainstream content. Which might sound contradictory, but I think both can be true at the same time.
I keep hearing this. And I get it. But I think as a community our interests are so niche that we also miss out on more mainstream content I would like to see. For example there’s some prime time network TV shows I watch, there’s comms for them with subscribers but they are not active.

Yeah I remember this. Though I thought it was even older than 2011. But maybe I’m confusing this with some redhat/fedora based distro some hardware manufacturer was shipping OEM with their x86 desktops around 2007. Can’t think of the name. But anyway that page you link shows an update from just last month. Though it sounds like it’s written by a bot. I’d wonder if it’s full of Chinese malware.
You also have to run the right Linux distro. Try telling Lemmy you run Ubuntu.
Yeah that also usually comes up in these types of discussions. Even for technical people, that approach can be a pain to manage.
I’ve used this many times before. But this is so well known I wonder, why wouldn’t spammers/scammers just remove the “+” and trailing characters before “@“?
I’m a smoker in the US. It seems like a hell of a lot less than 6% of people here smoke. I don’t think I have a single family member or friend who still smokes. Feels like it’s just me.

That’s odd. I’m allergic to cats but ended up with one. Took me about three months of misery sneezing and runny nose, but after that my body became used to it, and I was fine for years after that. But that’s somewhat different than your symptoms.
