He already had a circlejerk with another poster talking about how China can do it in days (because no osha, you know), and then! said it could also be done more inexpensively by reusing the steel from the collapsed bridge, that, you know, is structurally compromised by the collapse and I can’t imagine the water it’s submerged in is good for its integrity either
[insufferable pedant mode] well no, because it would be the unreal 5 engine then, wouldn’t it
It’s the only way I support the death penalty, it’s just too bad none of them have been condemned
I deleted my Reddit account and have not gone back. That said, I’m not particularly fond of Lemmy either. I’ve found… maybe? two communities here of interest that may have migrated from Reddit and they aren’t even active; and even as a socialist, the politics are tiresome and pervasive.
Aside from fascists getting the smacking around that they deserve, the one thing that’s nice is that there are far fewer cringey “yay lemmy is the best isn’t it guys” circlejerk posts now than there were back then. I don’t spend nearly as much time on here as I did on Reddit, so that’s a plus.
Target, I presume?
When your customer base has main character syndrome, none of that matters, go hog wild
oh he angy
“Communes”, populated by “commies”?
I’m not old enough to have published zines but I am old enough to know what they were, and I think it is actually a pretty apt name for it
Psh, nice shameless plug for your community bro
…to which I’ll subscribe as soon as I can
I’m honestly shocked at how soon the sapient insects displaced humanity and subjugated what remained. Here’s a hint: the second digit in the year I visited is still a zero
This is the reason, yeah, at least according to what I’d read on Wikipedia (I’d just learned this “funny story” myself a few minutes before reading the comment above). I wanted to see if there was anything that could confirm it, but I’m not paying $70 to purchase the standard (NECA 130-2010) where it may be written.
I guess it also warrants asking, what good, if any, did Reagan do for America?
I think it might be, the first time I’d heard it was in reference to Jimmy Savile after his death
Whitney Houston was inducted a couple of years ago. You don’t get more pop that than that, she was not rock at all; that year, she beat out Motörhead, Judas Priest, and Todd Rundgren. I don’t see how she influenced rock music, and yet, she even beat out someone who inspired her, and whose music is more closely related to rock than hers was, Chaka Khan.
I’m not saying she wasn’t incredibly talented, just that either she just doesn’t belong in the Rock n Roll HoF, or that the institution itself is a joke that shouldn’t exist.
Anyway, yeah, they induct pop singers.
I’ve been meaning to play both Zelda and Zelda II on Switch Online, maybe I’ll take a crack at them over Xmas break; they’re a couple of blind spots that I’ve had for no good reason and I need to fix that
When I was little, I mixed up the words “president” and “Reagan”, thinking the latter was the title. I felt sorta vindicated with he hero worship the man got in the neocon and tea party years.
But now, even though it should be an epithet akin to “Benedict Arnold” or “Quisling”, I would not be surprised if “Trump” became a sort of title similar to “Caesar” and its variants.
