  • All of you are children. Both the democrats and republicans are liberals. Dems are neo, republicans are classical - though half of those people also want to mix and match with nationalism. There’s something that you should know tho: liberalism is slightly right from centre, i.e NOT left-wing. That’s Yee olde US McCarthyism goal post moving at its best.

When it comes to outrage machines, the oldest one in memory is the Daughter of the confederacy, who were pro-slavery almost a century after the civil war. They put up all those confederate statues and help to put into place a lot of parcel feminist laws, i.e Hillary Clinton Karen laws, to protect them selves from the darkies, but eventually, as another judicial dog and pony show in the cirucs that is US legislature, because of course it’s been spilling over to law FOR OVER A CENTURE - heck, almost one and a half by now.

This outrage btw is also what allowed the US to carpetbomb Latin-American economy and is arguably the biggest reason why the cartels have so much power.

So yeah, outrage laws are dumb, and McCarthyism is one of the dumbest outrage cultures in the history of outrage cultures.

It’s just a bunch of liberals going “BUT MOOOOOOM, my ideology is the good one! These other ones are bad and we should ban them.”

About a century of liberalism has proven that liberalism, wether neo or classical, is for idiots and nationalists who don’t want to come out as nationalists, who want to curb any other political movement - which makes the term “liberalism” the most abused marketing term for the past 300 years.

“It’s about individualism!” I.e economic isolationism, nuclear family, anti-collectivist (or collectives that don’t hold political power that is - i.e nepotism), and let’s not forget the economic and psychological warfare they’ve committed to for so long.

But socialist, socialists are obviously the problem /s

    Signed an ex-social democrat.

  • In short, it’s a backend/frontend combination that can be shaped using standards compliant web technology, i.e HTMX and JSON, to make it easier in prototyping federated platforms.

Prototyping frontend and backends in tandem is an undertaking to say the least. By creating a framework specifically designed to bridge that gap it will allow developers to more effectively develop, test and publish social media platforms.

…also, they coupled the decoupling… because of course they did. But yeah, if this makes it easier to create federated platforms, I’m all for it.

  • It’s taking away right of ownership. A direct license of ownership, a copy or copies, defines the parameters of which the user is allowed to operate.

Running locally with access to installer that can be archived allows for more individualistic control. Having access to a Steam library is one thing, but having a local Steam backup is also possible.

However, if a game relies on online functionality it could be frustratingly because it was a “live service”, “online only” or subscription based. In either of these cases, you’re being deprived of value, of control. It vests all the power in the distributor over the contents value at any given point and time, with control over scarcity and accessibility.

As such live services and subscriptions should be disparaged, because it only makes you subservient. Laws should be put in place to guarantee access to games executable and for them to be stored and run locally.

I say this because I think people at large are getting swindled right now and it’s so saddening.

  • Eh, no. It’s the Tories and their stupid, corrupt plan.

It’s the “liberal market” gone wild (extra heavy quotations around “liberal”), via the trojan horse that was their brand of nationalistic, xenophobic protectionism, which tanked many businesses because they suffered massive brain drain and gave allowances to special friends of MP’s b’cus br’ih’ish, proving this horse called BREXIT was really just a way to avoid EU regulation, to gams UK economy by giving sharks and rat faced bastards the keys to the economy, which really just resulted in making every sector of industry in England alone a rechid hive of scum and villainy. No lie, throw a rock at any given UK market, and you just threw a rock into a shit tornado. The big idea? The OG intent? Usurp Switzerland as the new tax haven, to make London City great again - but instead, they just ground pounded British economy.

Like to underline the severity, I don’t think this is applicable everywhere, but England needs to decomodify a whole crapton of properties, because having blocks upon blocks standing empty for over decades due to “investors” sitting on it for its overpriced, projected liquidity, while homelessness is on the rise, is not a good look. We might see the return of hobbles and urchins in our lifetime. Crime will increase with poverty, and England itself might slowly turn into Victorian cyber dystopia when they finally have to “DEAL WITH THE CRIME RATES”. Can’t wait for that little smorgus board of human rights violations.

Additionally, judging by the various other "monarchies* in the world, including Norway, Sweden and Denmark, which are constitutional monarchies, they sure do cost a fair deal of money, but think of them more as the nations top soap opera. It’s basically state sanctioned idols, and unless they’ve got a lot of power, is as harmless as The Kardasian’s… who are just privatised royalty if you ask me.

That is to say, we have exceptions, like the Franco’s, the Philippino and Thai monarchies, the various African monarchies (tho not all? Not sure here), etc. But again, it’s not the hard and fast rule you think it is.

Here’s where my concern lies: if you get angry when you hear “monarchy”, ambivalent when you hear “aristocracy” and go “huh” like that meme cat when you hear “the clergy”, I think you might need to rethink your perception of governance and power structures.

In this case, the British people have to finally kill off their aristocracy and be aware that the Tories are literally enabling an oligarchy run by a bunch of pinheads and needledicks who think they can “save the kingdom”, if only you cut more taxes and threw out more immigrant labour… WHICH IS WHAT CAUSED THE FUCKING PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH!!!

Tories are trash, human garbage, and I don’t care who has to hear it.

  • My biggest problem is how people refuse to integrate monetization into federated platforms. Some standard transactional system of sorts that could allow small platforms to create revenue streams for creators.

Not having that means Threads will be the only platform that makes such functions available, and you know they’ll have a quota based incentive system much like YouTube to get all the creators their side of things.

This is bad for musicians, film makers, animators, etc. And if you’re idea is that “you can just link to someone’s Patreon account or their PayPal wallet”, then we’re right back to the same problem again.

Believing that in 2024 you can just ignore monetization within platforms means you’re just leaving a hole in the fence for which nefarious actors can sneak in. It’s better if we standardise and normalise ethical payment models and have them readily available across platforms.

We need a federated, decentralised SWIFT for the fediverse - believe it or not.
